Blood-C – Episode 2
This episode starts with a short fight between Saya and another monster. The monologue guy returns saying that time is what defines a person, as with time they experience different things and their individuality is born.
Saya again sings as she heads out of the shrine in the morning but is overheard by Fumito who laughs. He gives her some Guimauve to eat and after some chit chat Saya heads off for school. At lunch Saya and her friends including the twins, Tomofusa and Yuka eat together for some usual chat. Near the end of lunch Saya spots Tokizane and gives him some sweet tamago from her bento that Fumito made. As he leaves she senses that light again until her friends snap her back into reality.
At the end of the school day Saya skips home singing again. Her father greets her and tells her something about monsters that eat people.
The only thing that can beat them is a certain blade they have. He tells Saya that her mother used the blade to fight them but was killed. But Saya says she will not fail. With that she heads off to the next monster. After a long stare off the two start attacking. She climbs to a cave opening and looks out to the moon. Maybe not? Of course the animation is always good quality, but they really need to fix the story and this episode had a very abrupt ending.

This is Production I. Blood-C was designed to share only thematic similarities with earlier Blood projects. The series focuses on Saya Kisaragi, an outwardly normal girl who serves as the shrine maiden to a country town; in reality, she is a skilled swordswoman charged by her father to defeat Elder Bairns, monsters who feed on human blood. As her battles grow more desperate and more people she cares for fall victim to the Elder Bairns, Saya begins finding faults in her reality, and eventually uncovers a disturbing truth about herself, the town and her surviving friends. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, and modeled after traditional Japanese monsters. The show's bloody violence, a stylistic choice following the series' themes, resulted in censorship in Japan and eventual blacklisting in China.
Blood-C Episode 2
For a moment, I thought Kanako was going to turn out to be someone other than she seems, but that was nothing more than a tease. The delicious cafe that Itsuki had in mind turned out to be Guimauve too, further shattering my hopes that something interesting would happen in the first half. It could very well be that the big twist in the series will involve Saya herself and that her good-willed nature shown thus far is intended to heavily contrast some upcoming change in her character. Luckily, while the direction of the series leaves something to be desired, the bloodier side of the series continues to elevate itself — this time with an ancient monster that disguises itself as a train and hypnotizes its victims into boarding it. Once the story does pick up, those scenes should play out even better.
