You can use it to create a temporary platform for your team. It also damages the opponent while setting up the shield. It doesn't have cooldown as well, which means you can use it however you want! You can provide healing to yourself and your allies by using his down special move. Steven summons a watermelon that heals allies overtime and it will then create a Watermelon Steven that will join your team in the fight.
Stenve's Side special works similarly to the Up special, but he shoots it out horizontally. It can block off projectiles and prevent opponents from passing through, unless they jumped over or dodge through their way. Bubble Boy is a great crowd control move that damages every opponent that is near Steven or the tethered ally, or in between them. Placing shields around the platform gives Steven and his team more control over the place.
Don't hesitate to place them as it will only provide benefits to your team. Steven's abilities not only allows him to support his teammates but also tank the damage because of his other specials and passive. Always use them once their cooldown is done to maximize the use of his abiilities, but make sure to use them at the right timing if necessary.
