Its creators will benefit from broader exposure for themselves and their content. And users of TikTok will be able to delve into more content to do with the platform and enjoy new ways of connecting with their favorite creators.
TikTok Radio, as explained in a press release , will launch this summer on online radio platform SiriusXM. It will operate as a "full-time music channel" with TikTok's creators, tastemakers, and DJs presenting trending sounds from the app.
The SiriusXM channel has been described by the company's president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein as bringing: "a new take on radio by tapping into the latest music trends on TikTok. The creators will present their favorite songs to listeners, providing commentary about their selections. In this way, it will give fans another way to connect with their favorite creators.
A TikTok Hits playlist, meanwhile, will be more in line with TikTok Radio, featuring trending songs from on the platform. Users can listen to Pandora via its mobile apps or on the web. The playlists have already begun being rolled out.
