The premise is simple yet effective; every season or so a new team of teens are recruited by a mentor who trains them in the art of morphing into superheroes the eponymous Power Rangers to defeat an evil alien villain. The latter is a villainous, intergalactic bounty hunter who caused the extinction event that wiped out dinosaurs. The teammates located most of the Energems and seemingly defeated Sledge, but their adventures continued in Power Rangers Dino Super Charge when they were tasked with protecting the crystals from other villains — humanoid outlaw Heckyl and his alter-ego Snide — who wanted to harness their power to rule the universe. The team also discovered the existence of the Dark Energem, an immensely powerful Energem that corrupted Heckyl who was once a good guy. After freeing himself from its influence, Heckyl became an ally to the Power Rangers but the presumed dead Sledge returned intending to get his hands on the crystal. Doing so turned the Dark Energem into a black hole that planet Earth was sucked into, leaving the Dino Charge Rangers devastated.
