Though he's not a lead character, this Santa plays an incredibly huge part in the tale of Frosty the Snowman. On one hand, his appearance in the short is what makes it a Christmas special. On the other, he's mainly used as a deus ex machina to bring Frosty back to life. He even breaks the fourth wall and interrupts the narrator to save the day.
He's not exactly the star of the action, but he does grant the audience the gift of a happy ending. Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies helped him and his animators grow as artists, and even they had their own take on Santa Claus.
The reason his version gets a mention is due to his consistency. In the short films featuring Disney's version of Santa, he's presented as what everyone thinks of when they hear his name, although with a cartoony touch. He's the perfect Santa to exist in a world inhabited by the likes of Mickey Mouse. The Santa presented in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer gave viewers a different side of the character. The holidays are a stressful time for many, and it would appear that Santa is no exception.
The poor guy is so preoccupied with Christmas prep that it's affecting his normally plump figure. Honestly, who can really blame him? At least he has time to care for his reindeer and give viewers a friendly rendition of "Jingle, Jingle, Jingle.
