20 Cartoons Reacting To The Results Of The 2016 US Presidential Election

Happy New Year! There are lots of cartoons to start the year. Below that is a cartoon that is actually from April but Lew, plus fake data, was in the news in January last year. To the right is a Climate scientist volcano about how Climate change causes volcanoes. Lastly there is a cartoon about the very sad shootings in Paris of the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists.

You can read his post with the cartoon here. The caveman cartoon post is here. The Nick Stokes defense is a cartoon from — Nick is a retired lawyer, I believe, and a regular commenter at Climate Audit. His arguments are dry but entertaining. There is an article to read here and her paper is here. Lastly a Patchy cartoon posted here which you can read about here.

So, of course, the ball bounces down the hill but the only calamity is climate science losing its credibility by not being able to predict or model anything useful.

Nice metaphor though. Below bottom right is a Green blob cartoon. The Andrew Weaver cartoon appeared on Climate Audit about this story. Finally, bottom left, another Climate Audit cartoon , also on BishopHill. From top left, a name change for Realclimate , a message to the Pope as he writes his environmental encyclical, the abhorrent consequences of divesting from fossil fuels, and bottom right, solar panels working at night , Lastly, bottom left, Sheep Mountain, one of my favourite cartoons of the year.

Top right is a little portrait of the wonderful Freeman Dyson drawn to link to a great video interview with him about the greening of the planet. Below that Alan Rusbridger , editor of the Guardian, steps down, presumably to Hades.

Above we have a shy science cartoon — climate scientists seem to get bullied into agreeing whatever alarmists say. Doom is next , or imminent, The Radio 5 transcript is here. I added a small portrait of Richard Tol on the far right — no story but he does have great hair and is another interesting voice in the climate blogosphere. Beneath that is a cartoon done for Anthony Watts. Bottom left is D. Lastly the strange world of John Cook, who likes to pretend he is Lubos Motl.

This month has a big caricature of Nicolas Stern , a lot of fun to draw. Obama made the news with more green waste. And finally a bit of a Climate carbon scam.

BAU, as they acronym. Late but not forgotten, just busy! Bottom left is Stern being rebuffed by Cameron, who is no longer PM. How time flies. David Appell visited Bishophill. We got a proposal to provide an even dumber version of the IPCC report. Finally, we have the Volkswagen emissions cheating story — a global swindle of epic proportions — sounds familiar. I had fun drawing Jeremy Corbyn this month — no idea what he really thinks about environmental issues and climate change.

The Pause was also in the news this month. A dark month. To the right, Michael Mann leads the charge after a strange Huffington Post article suggests we should fight terrorism with Climate Change policies.

Lastly, a cartoon in the centre about how everything bad is due to climate change. Of course they will meet for a big party every year to see how everyone is getting on — so the cartoons I drew for GWPF last year still applies. You can download them all here. Climate expert James Delingpole puts him right. And, to end the year, the planet wishes you a very Happy Christmas! This page will be updated through the year with the stories behind the Calendar cartoons.

Post a Comment. I like the apocalyptic feel of this cartoon. What impact will the election of Trump have on the world, in particularly on Australia, economically, environmentally, politically and militarily? Who knows? Trump openly loves the politics and the autocratic style of Putin. This cartoon controversially subverts the notion to one of gay love. Trump's brand of innuendo, racist smear and unfact is absurdly, but beautifully and ironically applied here.

One thing is certain about the political campaign: It's making political satire great again! From NC legislators battling it out over.

Millennials know that this is a crucial distinction. Dickens would be proud. Austin Collins. This wonderfully strange animated miniseries debuted just a few years ago on Cartoon Network, but owing to its surprising allure, it has already established itself as an all-time great. At first, the series is mystifying. But as the characters assert themselves and the weirdness resolves, it turns Over the Garden Wall into not just a fairy tale but a sliver of a coming-of-age story, with reverence for both the real world and the need to run away from it.

It's all too easy to assert that things were better back in the day, but just take a look at this list of hit cartoons from the s and '90s and then try arguing that pre-teens of that era weren't absolutely spoilt.

This poignant documentary is about an autistic boy who learned how to understand the world and communicate with it through Disney characters. T he great Disney movies have an irresistible power — and so does this lovely documentary about an autistic child who used the Disney classics he watched over and over on VHS to learn how to speak, think and understand the world. Owen Suskind is a young man in the US who, at three years old, had succumbed almost overnight to a severe developmental disorder, retreating into silence or gibberish. He was bullied at his special-needs school. Miraculously, Owen replied: that he was lonely.
