America's cartoon cat Garfield gets TV makeover in Indonesia
Netflix showed off a new clip of its upcoming animated series Sonic Prime , and the footage introduced fans to Big the Cat and Froggy. The clip was revealed during Netflix Geeked Week and shows the fan-favorite fishing cat and his froggy friend getting interrupted by Sonic who is on a mission to save their friends.
Big the Cat first appeared in Dreamcast's Sonic Adventure and has been a recurring character ever since. Froggy also first hopped on the scene in Sonic Adventures. Announced last year , Sonic Prime is a new animated series streaming exclusively on Netflix. We got our first look at the show last month, and got another brief clip during this week's Sonic Central stream.
The series is a collaboration between the streaming giant, Sega, and the Man of Action Entertainment, with the latter serving as both the showrunners and executive producers in this new animated series based on the Blue Blur. Sonic Prime will task the titular character with a "race to save the universe" while Sonic also embarks on "a journey of self-discovery and redemption. Charlie Brooker is perhaps best known for his work on Black Mirror. The dark, satirical commentary on modern society firmly sits at the top of my list as one of my all-time favourite shows , and while fans of his wait patiently to know whether the series will ever make a return , the British filmmaker has treated us to a new show — of interesting and somewhat perplexing proportions. Cat Burglar is new to Netflix and, on first inspection, looks like any regular cartoon. The premise is simple — Rowdy Cat needs to outsmart Peanut the guard dog in order to steal a piece of art in a museum. In among the funny, light-hearted snippets of the cartoon, the viewer has to answer quickfire questions in order to progress.

Immediately, you are thinking the worst: depressing reminders about how social media runs our lives; dead loved ones uploaded into AI androids; Prime Minister; pig. For his next trick, however, he changes pace dramatically, offering up not a hellish Covid parable that also somehow chillingly invokes the metaverse, or whatever — but a cartoon called Cat Burglar. Rendered with a Looney Tunes -esque, Technicolor look and clearly brimming with affection for that era of animation, the show follows the exploits of Rowdy, the titular cat burglar, who must evade Peanut the Security Pup as he attempts to steal a priceless painting. Of course it would not be the full Charlie Brooker Experience without at least a minor twist on the Tom and Jerry format, where animal characters explode, squash, immolate, and otherwise murder each other for laughs. Streaming TV can sometimes feel like opening your laptop, turning off your thoughts, and letting the pure content sandpaper your brain until it is as smooth as a little egg. Cat Burglar is a fun corrective that nudges you to think about how passively you consume — while also trying to frantically remember the names of the kids in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
