There have been multiple films, a spin-off series and multiple mini-series. You can currently watch seasons 1, 2, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 of the main series. The Pokemon anime is still going strong after all of these years. Even after redesigns of the main characters and an animated movie that had Pikachu speaking human words sparking fan outrage, Ash and his friends don't appear to be going anywhere. However, thanks to notes from the anime's former head writer, Takeshi Shudo, fans have been given a fascinating look at a couple of ways the anime could have ended. Shudo passed away in , but many of his unused concepts for the series live on through his blog.

These days, that is a long time for one anime to stay on TV and continue to get new episodes, and it seems like it is finally coming to an end. When Ash was about to get his eight badge, Misty mentioned that they'd been on the road for a year at that point.
