BNA is a brand new A game anime by Studio Trigger

Reader discretion is advised. Humans and Beastmen have been at odds with each other throughout history. In the modern-day, although Beastmen have earned more rights, they are still often hunted and killed. Thus, Anima City was founded, and it serves as a haven for Beastmen of all species. Although Michiru may look like a Beastman, she is a human who underwent a mysterious transformation. Therefore, she is hoping to find a cure and return to her normal life.

These two are often at odds, but despite that, they make for an efficient pair. As Michiru looks to discover the reason behind her affliction, she learns that there is more to her new form than meets the eye. Trigger is my favorite animation studio, and I look forward to all their productions with glee.

From where I sit, Trigger has never failed to deliver something substantial, if not outstanding. Nevertheless, BNA was very much a Trigger production. Although this series lacked overall pizzazz, it had all the elements of what makes a Trigger narrative so great. For starters, BNA did a fantastic job of staying away from heavy-handed, lecture-like exposition.

Instead, BNA offered us all the information we would need to come to our own conclusions. Trigger does this very well. This is a production company that has a lot of faith in its audience to think for themselves; there is hardly any hand-holding. BNA was a perfect example of this. After that, BNA had a full cast of fun and interesting characters. Also, if someone did manage to tick her off, Michiru had no problem using her newfound abilities to prove a point.

More than anything, though, Michiru was a fascinating catalyst for this show to illustrate why always wanting to be the hero can backfire. There were many times when Michiru would jump into a situation without thinking about all the facts. Michiru had a bad habit of imposing her views onto whatever was going on around her.

She hardly ever considered that other people might see certain events in a different, possibly more rational, light. Instead of accusing and assuming, Michiru needed to start listening and empathizing with her friends and the people she cared about. This was a neat interpretation, and it allowed this series to be much more meaningful.

On the visual front, Promare was the clear winner. The stories of both BNA and Promare were quite similar in many ways.

But there was one critical difference. BNA was much easier to follow. BNA did not have that problem. That is why I believe it is important to rate a story by its substance rather than its style.

Therefore, despite lacking the bright colors, fast movements, and epicness of other Trigger series, BNA still succeeded in being a phenomenally entertaining show.

Everyone and everything was exactly how they seemed, and not a single detailed veered off into an unexpected direction. However, BNA had these big reveal moments that probably should have been shocking and out-of-nowhere. Assumptions, mind you, that ended up being one-hundred percent correct. However, it was a perfect example of why this studio is so damn good.

Minus the high-octane animation Trigger is known for; this show retained the same level of storytelling, character development, and fun that keeps getting me excited. But these are just my thoughts.

'BNA: Brand New Animal' Season 1 turns viewers into instant fans as they fall in love with Michiru

As that name might suggest, the Annies are an animation-focused award hullaballoo. See, while his designs were used for the actual animation and he deserves all the praise in the world for making a cast of characters so visually distinct yet looking great in motion , they were largely based on concept art by Genice Chan. In truth, this Annie Award nomination spiritually belongs to them both. Specifically, in the character design field, BNA Brand New Animal contends against some worthy competition, but also some head-scratchers; No doubt Looney Tunes features some of the greatest design work in animation history, but do new updates to nearly century-old designs really count? The fact that BNA Brand New Animal got nominated for this Annie Award category is an accomplishment worth celebrating, though also a signifier that not even the Annies take anime as seriously as they should.

BNA – Brand New Animal Series Review: For the Animal Within

Hot off releasing their first anime feature back in , Promare , rising anime studio Studio Trigger teams up with Netflix to deliver a fast-paced, fun, and surprisingly socially relevant anime series in BNA : Brand New Animal. The series brings us into a modern world where humans are not the sole dominant species as there is species called beastmen, humanoid animals that can transform between animals and humans at their free will, that are often subjected to persecution by humans. Looking for sanctuary where beastmen can live their lives with the same rights and free-willingness as humans, Anima-City is a safe-haven created by beastmen, with the financial help of the mysterious, human-led pharmaceutical company Sylvasta Pharmaceutics, so that they can live normal lives with the same rights as humans. The world-building immediately piques you interest as the series unapologetically paints the daunting reality that beastmen face in the scrutiny they receive. From seeing graffiti and propaganda telling them to die to literally fighting for their lives as they are hunted down by terrorist groups, the world is clearly unaccepting of beastmen — making the existence of Anima-City all that more important.

From Trigger, the anime studio behind Promare and Kill la Kill. BNA, full name Brand New Animal, is an anime series that began airing.

BNA: Brand New Animal Season 2: Release date, news and rumors

It has almost been a year since BNA debuted on our screens. Netflix has released several great original anime series lately, and BNA is certainly one among them. The unique premise of the series first season managed to impress the viewers. Now, they want to see more of it.

When Will BNA: Brand New Animal Season 2 Come Out on Netflix?

Post a Comment. However, persecution against Beastmen is at an all time high. Anima City stands as a safe haven for Beastmen looking to live in peace, free from Human interference and violence. It is here that Michuru Kagemori has come to. Michuru claims to be a Human who just one day changed into a Beastman herself. The search for answers only gets more complicated when Michuru discovers that there are those who want to tear down Anima City for their own purposes.

Michiru Kagemori is a regular human girl until one day she suddenly turns into a beastman. Beastmen are humanoid animals with the ability to appear human, though they also have a beast form basically furries.

As a result, not only do they end up becoming Beastmen themselves, but they also gain the power to transform parts of their bodies go have other animal aspects too such as gorilla arms or bird wings. In Japanese lore, the fox and the tanuki have the power to transform, so from the creative stance, it makes sense. After being separated from Nazuna for some time, Michiru eventually meets back up with her friend when she discovers her among the Church of the Silver Wolf. From there, Nazuna mostly criticizes Michiru for wanting to take her out of the limelight, believing that this is as good as being an Idol. There are a lot of animal lovers out there in the world, yet in BNA it seems like the exact opposite. Why though? Despite all the things humans tried to do the Beastmen throughout the season, the show does not establish a reason for their hate.

BNA: Brand New Animal Season 2: Netflix Renewal & Release Updates

I got to tell you: I'm not that big into anime. So if you expected a deep dive into the genre, you won't find it here. This will be a review through the lens of someone more used to the type of animated shows done here in the west, so keep that in mind.
