Pixar was still putting out quality films, Walt Disney Animation Studios had a phenomenal decade, Studio Ghibli continued their consistency, and many other film studios also put out their best work. When it comes to the users at Letterboxd, they have their favorites from each year of the decade. This doesn't always mean it is the best animated film from that year but it is the one to receive the most reviews, be the most watched, and also often receive some impressive reviews overall. Producing a sequel to the iconic first two movies in the series a decade after the most recent one was a risky move by the studio.

Here Is A Definitive Ranking Of Every Disney Animated Movie From The 2010s
A case of style over substance, the Cars sequel was really just a meandering plot and a lot of noise. Loud and colourful enough to distract younger viewers, this spin-off movie was otherwise a bit of a Disney disappointment. A marginally better film than the original, the slick animation and silly humour is definitely enough to keep children entertained! Though the voice acting is okay, the animation in this feature is dated and the story is too one-dimensional and silly save the film as a whole.
A much modernised version of the problematic original, this film had a great cast and direction but somehow lacked heart. Although some Disney stans were overjoyed to see Dumbo the elephant again, this remake was ultimately quite confusing and tried too hard to be woke. Even though the story behind this remake still resonated with audiences, the divisive animation style and lack of originality in the script was a bit of a turn off. This Disney India animated epic captured the imaginations of some, but others found the simplistic animation distracting.
Not much can be improved on in the version, which has a level of charisma and drama that this remake lacks, but Mark Rylance is excellent as BFG! While it's a much better film than its predecessor Cars 2 , this film isn't a standalone masterpiece and might be better suited to fans of franchise.
Beautifully scored and visually stimulating, this film is definitely moving, but the plot is perhaps a little stiff and formulaic for adult viewers. Compared to the original, this film isn't nearly as genius and the plot is a little contrived. There are fun moments though! And we loved getting a lil mention Some audiences found this film somewhat saccharine while others praised its storytelling and aesthetic. It's a wholesome watch for all the family nonetheless!
Something about this version really brought the classic story to life! The voice acting is superb and you can totally get lost in the style of animation.
For those who wanted to know what happened to Kitty at the end of Monsters Inc , we'll always be disappointed by this movie. For those who just wanted more of these characters, this film is a pretty good watch.
Nicely feminist and just as compelling in animation and performance terms, this sequel still feels a little pointless and it didn't give Incredibles fans the story we all needed after such a long wait. This is good old-fashioned Pooh!

For those who got past the tragic beginning, this movie combines the classic Disney Pixar style with a hipster cast of characters — and somehow it really works!

This visual language of Wreck-It Ralph is amazing from start to finish. The constant references to video games are genius, the characters are compelling, and the plot is super tight! This highly imaginative movie blends off-the-wall comedy with serious emotion, without ever losing its way.
The cast is brilliant, the story flows nicely, and the movie design is ambitious yet delightful. As well as the amazing songs, Moana offers a beautiful exploration of Polynesian culture through the eyes of a refreshingly honest and powerful title character.
