The service club is back! The season can be expected to pick up right where it left off, with Yukino asking Yui and Hachiman for help. With the first and second season covering volumes of the light novel, This third and final season will cover volumes with the anime and light novel, concluding the series.

The tale of Hikigaya Hachiman in OreGairu was one where self-discovery stood paramount. A story which implied a caterpillar-like figure creating a cocoon to vouchsafe his social standing through isolation with no shred of irony shed. This established the foundation of his life as an isolated, misanthropic loner. This led to his world view being challenged ever increasingly, then shattered ultimately. At the start of the series, Hachiman completely separated himself from other clubs or cliques. Hachiman wore this as a badge of honor, as a sign that he needs no one to survive. In the process, Hachiman uncovered people and their emotions at their base and moved closer to a genuine relationship. For all that Hachiman did to wax poetic about his world view, the juxtaposition that little was known about his life prior to his life at Soba High School, and particularly in middle school struck as intriguing and palpable. This struck Yukino and Yui as weird and creepy. This context permitted Zaimokuza and Shizuka to serve as effective foils to Hachiman.

The end only draws closer and it finally seems like all the pieces are in place for a fantastic finale. As Haruno said, no one would be satisfied by this ending. That and how she is eating away at Hachiman when she just repeats everything he already knows back to him. Her intention may be somewhat villainous, but I think there is also the aspect of wanting to keep Hachiman from falling into becoming what Haruno has become. But then comes Sensei to ease the pain.
