Watch The Simpsons Pay Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli

Vimeo user "dono" has posted his video tribute found via One Perfect Shot that looks back at many of the characters and movies that Miyazaki has brought us. I like the way this tribute brings together so many of the memorable characters from Miyazaki's movies.

My favorite film is still Castle in the Sky , and Totoro , but this entire tribute makes me smile. From dono on Vimeo : Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki. Music by Joe Hisaishi. Made with Blender, Gimp, Octane and Natron. The art seen above is a tribute done by Amien Juugo, found on deviantArt here. Back in , Hayao Miyazaki announced that he was retiring after finishing The Wind Rises , and Studio Ghibli has since stopped making animated feature films after the release of When Marnie Was There , though they are still working on other things.

It is always a perfect day to watch a Miyazaki movie. Find more posts: Animation , Feat , To Watch. This makes me so sad. Miyazaki has a pretty much a flawless record when it comes to hits. To think the man is done making films is nothing short of an artistic travesty. A major hat tip to Joe Hisaishi, the music composer, must be given as well.

His scores bring an amazing amount of emotion to Miyazaki's work. I feel slightly sad Miyazaki isn't making movies, but really his collection of films are so good, it doesn't bother me so much. We know he still creates work every day, be it watercolours or story writing and that make me happy. He's up there with Moebius or Otomo for me as incredible artists capable of creating unique universes. Carpola on Aug 16, Wind Rises is one of my favourite movies. They also worked with Namco one time on a video game, Ni No Kuni - I always wished his studio had adapted their game Eternal Sonata as a movie.

Hayao Miyazaki Tribute Pop Up Show coming to SPOKE NYC

I believe I was around 12 when my younger cousins convinced me to watch Princes Mononoke. How wrong I could be. If this is to be the end, Miyazaki has left us with a wonderful farewell gift — The Wind Rises is a somber, souring, meditative look at the role of an artist and the sacrifices needed to achieve your dreams. Animation is a strange thing to love as an adult. Even Miyazaki himself says he creates most of his films with an audience of Japanese children in mind. So why then do I still love and adore his films, and all of the films of Studio Ghibli? For one, they are beautiful.

Studio Ghibli Fans Pay Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki for His 81st Birthday

But Hayao Miyazaki , the legendary Japanese animator, has managed to anger everyone from doctors to political activists with The Wind Rises Kaze Tachinu , his fictionalised portrayal of the inventor of the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane , used to devastating effect by the imperial Japanese navy during the second world war. In making a protagonist of Jiro Horikoshi , whose planes took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor and in kamikaze missions, Miyazaki is being targeted by unlikely political bedfellows at home and abroad. South Korean internet users accused the director — who won global adoration with the more family-oriented fantasies My Neighbour Totoro and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away — of lionising the creator of one of the most potent symbols of Japanese militarism, and pointed out that among the workers who assembled more than 10, of the state-of the-art fighters were forced labourers from the Korean peninsula. Stung by the criticism, Miyazaki met South Korean reporters based in Tokyo to explain his admiration for Horikoshi.

So you can imagine my delight at discovering this Simpsons tribute to the newly retired director of Studio Ghibli. Familiar characters from both sides are merged as one, which is sure to amuse fans of both animation studios.

Beautiful Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki Puts His Studio Ghibli Characters into 3D Worlds

The lauded co-founder of Studio Ghibli has taken animated film to new heights. Now, a first-of-its-kind retrospective pays tribute to the master, inviting us behind the scenes of the mind that gave us Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro. For Studio Ghibli is all the more remarkable for its ability to capture the uplifting delights of childhood innocence, whilst also revealing the darker complexities of the human condition. In September last year, the newly opened Academy Museum opened its doors to celebrate the globally acclaimed Miyazaki. The list of attributes that sets his films apart is infinite. My personal favourite of his arrangements is The Legend of Ashitaka ; a velvety ode equal to the magisterial forests depicted at the heart of Princess Mononoke.

I love animation, so whenever anyone tries to do anything creative or different with the medium, I get really excited. Vimeo user dono did just that with his amazing and inventive tribute to one of the greatest animators ever, Hayao Miyazaki. Cole is a born and raised Canadian whose love of animation has taken him all around the world. Cole is a recent university graduate with degrees in both English and Linguistics, and he has recently made a move to the current capital of hand-drawn animation: Japan. When he is not watching animation from the East or the West, Cole spends his time reading, exploring the beautiful country of Japan, and learning new languages.

A co-founder of Studio Ghibli , he has attained international acclaim as a masterful storyteller and creator of Japanese animated feature films, and is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished filmmakers in the history of animation. During his early years at Toei Animation he worked as an in-between artist and later collaborated with director Isao Takahata.

As an artist, filmmaker, and co-founder of the legendary Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki has been enthralling audiences for decades with his compelling creative vision. Now his work takes centre stage at the Academy Museum with a comprehensive retrospective that features original storyboards, character designs and animation cels by the man himself. Written by: Dom Carter. Named Hayao Miyazaki, the exhibition is the first time a North American museum has paid tribute to his work. Launched to mark the grand opening of the Academy Museum itself earlier this year, the Hayao Miyazaki retrospective is an immersive experience that will delight fans of his films. With so much of the art on display making its first appearance outside of Japan, it's unsurprising to learn that the exhibition took years of planning and cooperation between the Academy Museum and Studio Ghibli. They didn't know us, our museum didn't exist yet, and they are very protective of Miyazaki-san's work - rightfully so.

I am dono, CG freelancer from Paris, France. I use Blender as my main tool for both personal and professional work. My workflow was a bit hectic during the creation of my tribute to Hayao Miyazaki short. I always loved the work of Hayao Miyazaki.
