Binghamton’s American Civic Association Gets HVAC Funding
The Mickey Mouse shorts first premiered on June 28th, on the Disney Channel and then eventually made their way to the Mickey Mouse YT channel — which is where I found them and immediately fell in love with them. I was taken in by the animation, which was fun and energetic, as well as the super-stylized and colorful backgrounds. I found myself binging through them pretty quickly and even subscribing to the YT Channel so I could catch the latest one when it dropped. Enjoy, and let me know which one is your favorite. The series made the choice to have the dialog of any episode set outside of the US in its native language and I really loved that they did this. Similar to the previous embed, I love that this one is in its native language and really sells the energy of a true football game. Nice little nod to The Three Caballeros, too. There are a ton more where these came from and all of them are an absolute treat. And while you can probably get through all of these in less than a day, they are guaranteed to make it just a little bit brighter. Created an animated fantasy webseries called Flagon.

Guys, I am in love with these new shorts! First, the animation. Oh my goodness the animation is so gorgeous. The timing on the jokes is spot on and really capture the feel of a classic mickey cartoon. Aside from that, the expressions on the characters can range from hilarious to heart-meltingly adorable.

Joseph Holt is the series art director. If the newly released short Croissant de Triomphe is any indication, this will be a handsome and distinctive series, featuring a mixture of Cartoon Modern -styled backgrounds, Thirties-influenced character designs complete with pie-cut Mickey eyes , and loose, expressive animation. The three-and-a-half-minute running time of the first short is perfect, too. My prime observation about the first short Croissant de Triomphe is that it struggles to find the humor in its set-up, which is Mickey driving around Paris on a scooter. Even obvious gag set-ups—for example, Mickey dressed as a knight and lancing croissants—have no comedic payoff. Whatever may have been lacking in the classic Mickey shorts, they at least emphasized personality-driven humor, something that is completely absent in this new short, which relies on conventional situation-based comedy.

The assignment this week was to draw a character to fit into a show of our choice. So this assignment would be good practice. At one point he pulled up a random picture of a s business guy and drew him in the Kim Possible style. Then he redrew that same guy in the Danny Phantom style.

Using assets from classic Mickey Mouse cartoons to newer animated shorts, the creative team pulled Mickey and his friends out of screengrabs and placed them on repurposed backgrounds from the shorts to create entirely new scenes unique for the social audience. To adapt the original animated source material we would adjust poses or completely re-illustrate characters and outfits, add props, and incorporate original illustrated elements and lighting effects to make the pieces feel much more atmospheric and special. In I began work as lead designer on the account, responsible for working with the account team to develop concepts, providing art direction and feedback to the other creatives, and regularly meeting with client teams at Disney to review the work and develop strategies to improve our content. In the years since launching the account, Mickey has gained almost 3 million followers on Instagram, and his Facebook page has over 14 million likes. Every Mickey Mouse design starts with a number of assets pulled from Mickey Mouse animated shorts: character poses and backgrounds to place them in. From there, I was responsible for adapting the characters and backgrounds, as well as incorporating original illustrated elements and image adjustments, to create a unique piece of design. This is easily a career highlight.
