Can “Regular Show: The Movie” Cash in With Streaming?

G Quintel has worked on and created some of my favorite cartoons growing up. The series follows the perfectly mixed mundane and wild misadventures of Josh voiced by Quintel , an aspiring video game developer, and Emily voiced by Gabrielle Walsh , an assistant for a food corporation and part-time in a comedy singer-songwriter band. Together, this married couple living in Los Angeles is trying to navigate the transition from their 20s to their 30s while taking care of their rambunctious five-year-old Candice voiced by Jessica DiCicco. To make things more challenging, in order to save money, the family lives with their friends Alex voiced by Jason Mantzoukas and Bridgette voiced by Kimiko Glenn — who are divorced.

Regular Show: The Movie follows our two favorite slackers - Mordecai and Rigby - who have discovered that a botched science project they did.

Trailer Breakdown: “Regular Show: The Movie”

It's 25 years into the future. Mordecai and Rigby have families and grown children now. They've given up the schemes and adventures of the past to become responsible adults. However, when they are asked to go out and buy ice for their party, adventure comes out to find them, and it's a strange one indeed. Regular Show: 25 Years Later 1 has the plot setup and progression one would likely expect from a time-jump comic like this. Mordecai and Rigby, irresponsible and at-times selfish in their youth, are now responsible adults afraid that they will slip back into their old ways while secretly wanting those old times back. That's not a new story or even a new way of telling the story. It is relatable though, and it shows maturity from characters whose whole point is arguably to be the most immature and self-centered people imaginable. That said, I've always found Mordecai and Rigby to be difficult characters to get invested in, and Regular Show often plays off that concept. As such, setting up a story where we are supposed to be invested in their character development is a shaky prospect, and it does hamper the comic.

Regular Show : TV Show Review

Created by J. Quintel for the Cartoon Network, Regular Show debuted in the fall of and recently made its Blu-ray debut as a set comprised of the first two seasons of the series. Known for being peculiar, the show centers on the misadventures of two slacker best friends, a Blue Jay named Mordecai voiced by Quintel and a raccoon named Rigby William Salyers , both employed as groundskeepers at a local park. They spend most of their time at work messing up, thus making things more difficult for everyone else. Each of the stories tend to start out with Mordecai and Rigby dealing with what appears to be a fairly mundane problem, but they end up making a big mess of things. At the same time, the show explores elements of fantasy and the supernatural to the point of shattering any connection to reality.
