The Cat in the Hat is a children's book written and illustrated by the American author Theodor Geisel, using the pen name Dr. The story centers on a tall anthropomorphic cat who wears a red and white-striped top hat and a red bow tie. As she steps in, the mother asks the children what they did while she was out, but the children are hesitant and do not answer.
