It took me about 14 volumes of the A Certain Magical Index light novels before I finally "got" the appeal of Touma Kamijou, protagonist of the series. It wasn't that I particularly disliked the character, but I didn't understand why he's been one of the top 10 male light novel characters in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!
