This came out in when I was 8 and Firestar was above and beyond my favourite character. I was already an avid reader of comics by that point - thanks to my mum who also chose titles for herself as well as reading ours. It also helped that British newsagents in those days sold a range of Marvel and DC comics 50p would get you a comic, a packet of crisps and some sweets , so a trip to a specialty comic shop was not needed. Comics opened a whole world of fantasy and dynamic art and a huge positive for me, they had far greater number of female characters than toys and tv not including the stuff specifically aimed at girls , where the pickings were pretty lean. Firestar aka Angelica Jones, was specially created for the show because they couldn't get the rights to the Human Torch as I understand it. She was wonderful to my 8 year old mind. She could fly, shoot fire from her hands and was resourceful.
