Yuru yuri kyoko funny moments

This brief description sounds like almost every other slice of life in existence, but where Yuru Yuri differentiates itself is by how much the emphasis is placed on the yuri. Things got off to an alright start, as there were flashes of what the show could be, but it took a few episodes for it to really hit its stride. First things first, Toshinou Kyouko is an international treasure that should be cherished and celebrated the world over! Where do I begin?

However, I did watch the first season back when it aired in , and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can only sympathise with long-time fans of the series who had to go through a 3 year drought before getting to this point. After catching up with the bright, vibrant, cartoonish second season much like the first I was surprised by the sudden shift of style and gag delivery that TYO Animations is going for.

Still, if you go back and compare this episode to an episode from the first or second season, there is definitely a noticeable difference. Still, her many attempts and her dedication was enough to make her the highlight of the episode. And I say that as a positive, honestly! I love our pitiful protagonist for her normalcy and her inability to stand out.

Seeing her trip over and scrape her knee, spill her cider, and make a dozen or so worried expressions after feeling inadequate in comparison to a younger girl — all those moments are why I love her so much. We can never have enough Akari! Also, the recurring black coffee gag always gets me. She never has luck with that particular beverage, does she? In other news: I posted an Anime Summer Review on my personal blog. Feel free to check it out and see what I thought of the past season — I even ranked all 24 shows I watched in order from worst to best.

Yuru Yuri is back! That to me was the first sign that some other studio was handling this series. Was kind of disappointed as it was the trademark of the series to be honest! MAN have I missed this show!

Ahem, in any case, Yuru Yuri just happens to be one of the few moe shows that are actually good and pleasant to watch. That was pretty neat. And oh yeah! I forgot to mention that there seemed to be like a dip in the quality of the audio-recording for the voices. I mean, the VAs did a great job as usual but somehow the audio-quality sounded kinda lossy and a little lo-fi… I dunno, did anybody else noticed that?

I did not notice any audio problems in the recording. I tune in especially for my best girl Mimorin and she sounded just fine. What makes YY so good IMO is the timing and the reactions, and those are two of the most important and difficult things in comedy.

And her sometimes borderline reactions. I do like the additional details the new studio put into the backgrounds. However, I felt that the lighting inside the clubhouse was way too gloomy in the first act, and the colour not being bright and bold felt strange.

I actually thought it was my screen brightness setting at first. Might be one of those cases where I go back to the old series and realize just how big an improvement this was. Still — not having Akari doing the introduction was kind of disappointing.

I fell bad for her character during it, but nonetheless it was a staple of the series. This is definitely the year of long-awaited sequels with Working and, to an extent, Non Non Biyori as well. I might have to check out the other seasons now. Your email address will not be published. Save my name, email, and site URL in my browser for next time I post a comment.

Comet Lucifer — Komori-san wa Kotowarenai! A bit more of Akane screentime would be nice too. The Lemon Returns! The characters are all great. Just be funny for me. Great show. Stuff like this keeps me going. Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.

Slice of Laughs

I'm not sure what it is about Yuru Yuri , but there's just something light and entertaining about it. In its third season, the slice-of-adorable-life show continues that trend, and if it isn't exciting — and it really, really isn't — that doesn't matter because the characters are fun and everything is handled with a smile. You really do need to have seen at least season one to get this one even though there's no continuous plot, because Yuru Yuri San-Hai just jumps right in — it's a hot summer day and the girls are lounging around their clubroom. Kyoko suggests that they play the King Game and I think I like her version of it better than the real one , and when she commands Yui to kiss her finger, Chinatsu loses it. As a first episode, this one really relies on your familiarity with the characters, so if you don't remember who everyone is, definitely brush up on that, because very few names are actually said or subtitled even if they are spoken aloud. Chinatsu in the King Game is probably one of the best parts of the episode, and she's not even my favorite character; her sheer, insane determination to get Yui to marry her via King Game is just this side of deranged, and she basically becomes more Kyoko than Kyoko as the segment goes on. The cheery obliviousness of the other girls, specifically Sakurako and Himawari, adds to the humor. And fear not, Kyoko fans — her cooking class section is also good, although unusually for Kyoko it isn't quite as over-the-top as the Chinatsu and Akari parts, which really is a disappointment. While the character designs with the heads slightly too big and round for their bodies remains, the animation looks nice, albeit limited. Still shots are notably more striking than movement, such as when Akari and Kyoko are collapsed on the club room floor, although Kyoko waving her foot in Yui's face has a nice sense of fluidity to it.

On her first day attending the all-girls Nanamori Middle School in Takaoka, Toyama Akaza Akari oversleeps, to be awakened by her one-year-senior childhood friends: the level-headed Funami Yui and the often self-centred Toshinou Kyouko. Planning on exciting club activities at school, Akari joins the club her older friends have set up. But as it turns out Kyouko and Yui simply took over the former room of the now defunct tea ceremony club for their own Amusement Club. In regard to what the club does, Kyouko explains: "We just hang out and do whatever we want!

After two grueling months of projects and exams, I can get back to work on what really matters: analyzing fictional middle schoolers. Yuru Yuri is a carousel of hilarity that kept me optimistic through the endless weeks of twelve point font and Scantrons. Writing and directing play off of each other at every opportunity, and together create an ever-evolving collection of running gags. Nothing included in a scene is off-limits for a joke.
