Galactus cartoon

Everyone knows about Silver Surfer, the most famed herald of Galactus, but many others have served as the herald to the World-Eater, including the cosmic hero known as Firelord. Before taking on his role as the herald of Galactus, Pyreus Kril was a naval officer for the Xandarians, the original home of the Nova Corps peacekeeping force. This story showed Pyreus as a young cadet who got a chance to serve under his hero, Commander Gabriel Lan. This unit was a band of misfits led by the legendary Xandarian war hero on a ship known as the Way-Opener.

Galactus (Fantastic Four (1967))

Formerly a mortal man, Galactus is a cosmic entity who consumes planets to sustain his life force, and serves a functional role in the upkeep of the primary Marvel continuity. Lee and Kirby wanted to introduce a character that broke away from the archetype of the standard villain. In the character's first appearance, Galactus was depicted as a god-like figure who feeds by draining living planets of their energy, and operates without regard to the morality and judgments of mortal beings. Galactus's initial origin was that of a space explorer named Galan who gained cosmic abilities by passing near a star, [3] but writer Mark Gruenwald further developed the origin of the character, presenting Galan as alive during the previous universe that existed prior to the Big Bang which began the current universe. As Galan's universe came to an end, Galan merged with the " Sentience of the Universe " to become Galactus, an entity that wielded such cosmic power as to require devouring entire planets to sustain his existence.

The likes of Doctor Doom, Green Goblin, Thanos, and countless others are recognized as pop culture icons these days, despite their desire to take over the world or enact universe-wide destruction. At the same time, when talking about infamous Marvel rogues, it becomes abundantly clear that in terms of power level, they're not all created equal.

Spoilers for Defenders 2 by Marvel Comics below. The mother of Galactus is coming to the pages of Marvel Comics , as she is set to appear in the upcoming Defenders miniseries from Al Ewing and Javier Rodriguez. The Devourer of World's family has rarely been mentioned in the cosmic juggernaut's stories, and now, his mother will be making their first appearance in a story that expands on the supervillain's parentage. Despite being a fixture in Marvel stories for more than 45 years, Galactus' family hasn't been an integral part of his story, as his life before becoming the planet-eating villain sparsely focused on his early origins. Galactus was originally Galan of Taa , who was the sole survivor of his planet getting destroyed during the birth of the multiverse. Agreeing to a deal with the living embodiment of the Sixth Cosmos in order to survive, Galan became Galactus, whose purpose was to devourer planets to keep balance in the universe, while continue living.

He explains succinctly the conceit, developed by John Byrne during his '80s run on The Fantastic Four , of a core trinity—Death, Eternity, and Galactus—constituting the cosmic balance. Death personifies the principle of negation, Eternity the principle of life, and Galactus the passage between the two, or entropy. The scene is the culmination of a book in which Neaud seeks to address the balancing of the scales that happens with time. After the emotional ordeal of his masterpiece, Journal III , the fourth volume is concerned with how life goes on, healingly but also relentlessly.
