Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

We typically associate animation with American or Japanese productions. After all, companies like Disney, DreamWorks, Studio Ghibli, and Toei Animation are all powerhouses that have created some of the most beloved animated shows and movies ever.

The series was first featured in Pilote magazine in and remains in publication to this day. The comic was a huge success, resulting in numerous film adaptations, board games, video games, and a theme park. The story follows Tintin, a young reporter who travels the world with his dog Snowy and best friend, Captain Haddock.

The series was produced, written, and animated by the French company, Ellipse, and the Canadian company, Nelvana. It covers twenty-one Tintin books and follows the original comics faithfully. Created by Mary Tourtel in , Rupert Bear follows the titular bear as he goes on adventures around the world. The series ran until and featured 65 episodes of faithfully adapted Rupert Bear stories. The show focuses on mostly silent slapstick humor and features a cat named Oggy as the main character.

Oggy tries to live a simple life filled with TV watching and housework, but his days are often interrupted by three mischievous cockroaches. Oggy and his friends are constantly battling the chaos-causing cockroaches in entertaining and uniquely presented ways.

Episodes frequently use mixed media and various art styles in a way that is always visually interesting. The trio have to juggle their jobs as super-spies while also dealing with typical teenage problems. The show was originally marketed towards an audience of young girls but was found to be equally popular among girls and boys across multiple age groups. The over-the-top stories, exciting action, and lovable characters make Totally Spies!

Code Lyoko is a staple of s animation. This French animated series was created by Thomas Romain and Tania Palumbo and aired for 97 episodes over four seasons. Code Lyoko follows a group of friends as they fight against an evil artificial intelligence named Xana that is contained within a supercomputer.

Xana is a massively powerful entity that can influence both the real world and the virtual world of Lyoko which is tied to the same computer as it. Throughout the show, the friends uncover the secrets of Xana and the supercomputer and save the world constantly.

The show was noteworthy for combining both 2D and 3D animation with the real-world scenes animated in 2D and the virtual Lyoko scenes in 3D. The series was heavily inspired by the Japanese Magical Girl genre and embraces an anime-like art style. H follows a group of teenage girls who use elemental powers to protect the world from danger. At least not in the traditional sense. Overall, the show offers compelling action and stories that can be enjoyed by kids of any age and plenty of adults too.

However, despite this fact, the animated series actually began airing well before the game was officially released. Wakfu is one of the best television adaptations of a video game and a great show overall. The show tells the story of Yugo, a young boy with magical powers searching for his birth family.

The fourth and final season is currently in development. Romantic struggles surround the two heroes, as they have feelings for each other in different ways. Miraculous has romance, action, and a solid story that will no doubt keep you entertained. The critically acclaimed Netflix animated series, Arcane , was produced by a French company. Arcane is set in the universe of the League of Legends video game and follows the conflict between two sisters, Jinx and Vi. The show was very well-received and managed to appeal to both fans and non-fans of League.

The animation, voice acting, and story are all very well done, and the show has already been confirmed to have a second season in production. Do yourself a favor and watch Arcane , another stellar example of French animation. Image Via HBO. Image Via France 3. Image Via Gulli.

11 French cartoons for kids to learn French

While my interest in superheroes is perhaps inversely related to the degree to which they have occupied the culture, my Francophilia is such that I am critical putty in its CGI-animated hands. And I am no particular fan of CGI animation, either. Set in a Paris of recognizable spaces and landmarks — including, along with the unavoidable Eiffel Tower, the Hotel de Ville, the Pont des Arts, Notre Dame, art nouveau Metropolitan signs, poster-plastered kiosks and I. And the DVDs allow you the choice of listening in the original French, which feels classy. Marinette Cristina Vee is the French-Chinese smart girl who takes time off from studies to protect Paris in the guise of Ladybug, a costumed crusader into whom she transforms with the help of a pair of magical earrings. As is traditional, the battle is for the soul of a single city; there are no field trips to Lyon or Toulouse. Marinette has a crush on her classmate Adrien Bryce Papenbrook , an unspoiled rich kid who moonlights as a model, and like, Marinette, as a superhero, Cat Noir.

Miraculous Ladybug has garnered a rather dedicated fanbase, and this isn't without reason. The main cast of characters are entertaining and fun to watch on-screen. The nature of Ladybug's power garners intrigue as to just how she'll manage to creatively save the day- plus, pretty much all of the heroes costume designs are beautiful, inspiring both the fan-artist and cosplayer communities. However, that doesn't mean the show is flawless- after all, nothing can be. From certain characters' actions to the way that episode distribution is handled and even aspects about how the animation of the show is handled, there's a lot about Miraculous Ladybug that simply doesn't make much sense. There are plenty of instances where Marinette and Adrien transform in incredibly close proximity to each other. Maybe it's a locker or a closed elevator that separates them and stops them from seeing one another. But sometimes, they transform in broad daylight simply by crouching behind a bench or hiding behind a building. It's pretty unbelievable that Marinette and Adrien haven't been caught during their transformation sequences before.

It's about a sorta-medieval-but-mostly-fantasy kind of thing. It's cute, funny, and at times, it has the intensity of an anime. Me and my sister fell in love with it by the second episode. It's just so adorable, quirky and fun!!! This sums up my reaction to Wakfu.

Students are also required to do internships, which confronts them directly to the working life and allow them to apply the skills they have learnt at school.
