This is nevertheless still easily one of Bugs's best. NOTE: Almost all video releases of this short have contained the Blue Ribbon reissue print that retitles the film as "The Wild Hare" and alters one line of dialogue. Video releases marked with an asterisk contain the original print of the short. Elmer decides to take him home, where the pet isn't too thrilled about having to sleep outside and eat vegetables. The first cartoon to use the name "Bugs Bunny," even though the character is still being tinkered with particularly the voice.

Jones makes Bugs out to be an annoying hypocrite more in line with Charlie Dog than anything seen in A Wild Hare , ultimately making this seem more like a follow-up to Elmer's Candid Camera with the prototypical Bugs. The short's pacing is painfully slow at times to the point where Bugs literally stops everything to have a snack and complain about his food a scene that sounds infinitely funnier than it is.
The character's indistinct "city slicker" voice completes the half-baked picture. Bryan's vocal performance as Elmer provides one of the only highlights. Tortoise Beats Hare TA. Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt FF. He finds one, who leads him through a brief underwater chase and off an unbelievably high cliff. This is the cartoon that cost Tex Avery his job at Warner Bros. The dog is unnamed, but it is generally considered to be Avery's Willoughby character. The action is getting faster, the gags are becoming more inspired, and Bugs is finally coming into his own as an aggressive, sympathetic, and intelligent character.
Despite being one-dimensionally dim, Willoughy is nevertheless an entertaining villain, offering some cute asides "Brought flowers. The final falling gag is one of the more memorable sequences of the early Bugs cartoons.

Chuck Jones directed cartoons like Looney Tunes from the s until his death in He was also an animator, and brought the world characters like Elmer Fudd. But part of what makes his characters so memorable is the world that they inhabit.

Having dabbled in political cartoons during the s, Geisel felt compelled to put his projects for young readers aside and brandish his pen to fire satirical shots at Adolf Hitler and American isolationists such as aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh who wanted to keep the country out of the war in Europe. Screened for troops in September , the cartoon was directed by Friz Freleng and features the familiar voice of Mel Blanc. Private Snafu is seen performing the tedious task of sorting boots. Driven to madness by boredom he is taken to visit his brothers Tarfu and Fubar by the gruff Technical Fairy, First Class, somewhat in the spirit of Ebenezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas. Brother Tarfu is seen tending to every need of carrier pigeons while brother Fubar is the unlucky dummy used in training attack dogs.
