I'm glad it's licensed. This is one of the rare series I've found worth buying Now if only someone would license the manga, because the official release would probably quicker than the scanlations are Last edited by Ryuujin; at Originally Posted by Ryuujin. Unfortunately, as with my last attempt the show made my brain hurt. It was just painful. I guess the thing that killed the show for me was the absolutely unbelievable setup and the constant facial exaggerations. It's not that I don't enjoy humor and funny anime faces, hell, I love anime that can make me laugh as much as anyone.. Originally Posted by Epoq. Exactly, I enjoyed both. Ultimately my major gripe about the series is how the "villains" try to keep making the lead and setasan break up. Its done soooooo many times it eventually gets really boring. Heh, well they have tried to outright KILL him, and it didn't work. So breakup is their only option. Except for the last one, all the villians were for comedy relief, Incho Jungle Girl did make me fall down laughing. Late release my ass Just a question, I heard the manga has been finished?
Is this true? Because when I go to certain manga sites, they say that the chapters are still "ongoing. It is an unscientifically proven fact that they are attracted to signatures which break the signature rules. According to Wiki, it's still going on. And no group really appears to devote themselves to this release. Owells I really want to know what happens after the anime.
A few bits of news and speculation. No release date yet, though, beyond "likely the first half of the year Regarding the manga: Since Gan Gan Wing is no longer published, the manga has moved to a new magazine. However, I've seen no sign of new manga compilations in over a year and a half; and I've heard of no new chapters.
Speculations on the "delay" of the US release: From Funimation's general comments, it looks like they've been trying to pace and time their releases to the health of the economy. I mentioned in a previous post how episode 17 could be causing Funi problems since that episode had alleged copyright problems in Japan. I've heard nothing either way on this. Again, I've heard nothing either way on this.
I've kind-of have to wonder if our current ever-evolving child porn laws are having some effect. After all, there are some scenes wherein one or more characters incorrectly assume sex between minors is happening. As such, I suppose the Funi lawyers could be advising delay of the release until the legal issues are resolved or reviewed. Originally Posted by gordok. Find More Posts by relentlessflame.
Just started watching this and it's been a good adaptation so far. The only complain I have is that I really dislike Nagasumi's mother. The way she flirts with Masa in front of her husband and is basically about to cheat on him is wrong on so many levels. Just finished this one, and I loved it. It was consistanly funny, and two episodes in particular had me in tears. The first one was episode 7. I loved Saru's absolutely insane reaction upon finding out that Runa was living with Nagasumi.
It was freakin gold. The second of which is episode Just the very concept of gang members acting like Galge girls is hilarious. Especially San's dad lol.
I also really liked San's chibi mode, because she said some really funny things that way. Another thing I really liked was the various facial expressions. Like how Nagasumi reacted when he saw Masa. Now on to the things I didn't like. I didn't like how Saru became Kai's servant. I also didn't like Maki at all. She was annoying as hell IMO and had no positive qualities. Another thing I didn't care too much about is the way that the family treated Nagasumi's dad. I felt really bad for him, and those scenes made me uncomfortable.
Lastly, I didn't like how the last episode turned into a wanna-be action series. I didn't particularly like that. Overall this was a really funny series. The positives outweighed the negatives, and I really enjoyed it.

Seto no Hanayome: Timeless Comedy
I never got this feeling during the OAV episodes, where the comedy comes in two flavours: stale and forced. The stale comedy is of the usual form: reusing the same jokes that used to work but without improving on them, and usually ruining them entirely. Note the difference between this and running gags, which are a comedy staple but thrive on variation and fresh situations. In a schoolgirl outfit!

Happily, I got to meet some Shelf Life readers at the con. It happens that October 19, marked the second year anniversary of my Shelf Life takeover. I celebrated by watching something I like: Fist of the North Star. Some of the characters seem more believable than others; one baddie biker gang villain wears all purple and sits atop a double-wide pink motorcycle. The slightly more realistic Juuza is a lady's man whose past is believably tied to Kenshiro's.
Ah the good old first impressions posts. So often they turn out hopelessly wrong. They were rated that lowly for a reason.

Runa's dad is the Terminator?! What the heck does that make San's dad? The T?
Quite right! I like your thought. I suggest to fix a theme.
I'm sorry, but I think you are wrong. I'm sure. I can defend my position. Email me at PM, we will talk.
