Project K Amazon. Manga UK released K in May and it has become one of my favourite animes of the year. The series picks up following Shiro who is easygoing and popular. Life for Shiro goes downhill very quickly. The red gang blame him for the cold blooded murder of one of their own. The gang of red themed thugs and Black Dog have pretty good evidence that Shiro is the murdered too.

Namely a video that was widely shown and clearly shows Shiro, or something that looks like him, committing the crime and declaring himself the Colourless King. There are people with supernatural power in this world and they get this from their Kings.

The Kings, in turn, must regulate their power, sharing it out and using it to defend the interests of their own tribes. There seems to be a flavour to the power too. The power of the Kings are represented by huge swords that appear in the area and hang menacingly over the city. K, or Project K as I sometimes see it refered to, works on a few levels. None of the above get overwhelming. I was wrong-footed by a sudden cut away to war torn Germany and a character called Adolf — but sit tight, the anime quickly wheels back around and it all makes sense.

A great characteristic to have considering everyone was trying to kill him. Another great characteristic he has is his heart. He is very kind and gentle by nature even before he became Yashiro Isana. Both projects were highly anticipated before their release and both have a huge cast with plots that are open to different interpretations. Also, both the anime focus on a city that has underlying supernatural elements that are revealed very subtly. The only evident difference between the two is that one has a good production value along with a decent storyline, while the other has an extraordinary storyline with a subpar plot. In all honesty, I have never really heard much about GoHands Studio but this anime series right here, made their presence known to me. And in this case, it clearly holds true because the phenomenal production value of the show is something that kept me engaged till the end. Often, many series end up focusing a bit too much on the stylistic aspects and end up ostracizing some of the main elements that add substance to it.
