Haruhi Fujioka frequently cross-dresses into a male, considering herself equal parts male and female. Contrary to many anime series, this one deals with queer romance in a very open way. One good example is Kyouya and Tamaki, a couple of friends who are "only friends" but their friendship extends beyond that in subtle gay ways.
