In a previous life, Keyaru was a healing magician, but his power forced him to endure the painful memories of those he healed. He was captured, abused, and forced to heal his captors in battle. Eventually, he escaped, defeated a Demon Lord, and used her Philosopher's Stone to travel back in time four years in the past. With his past memories gained, Keyaru swears revenge on his main abuser, Princess Flare of the Jioral Kingdom. Flare, who has no memory of these events, senses his awakening and declares him the Recovery Hero.
Keyaru takes advantage of the maids in the royal household who have sex with him. Keyaru regenerates the amputated arm of grateful swordswoman Kureha, but pretends to pass out. Flare callously orders the court magician to gain control of Keyaru, no matter how torturous the method.
‘Doing It Again’ Redo of Healer – Episode 1 Review
I was fully expecting this show to be quite fanservicey given the premise and some of the promo images that have been released but the first episode was actually quite wholesome. The backlash from this is mulled over, as our protagonist Wakana begins the episode friendless after having received negative reactions to his love of doll making at a young age. Now at high school he isolates himself from others and passively agrees to do what others ask of him so as not to make a fuss. Enter Marin, a headstrong popular girl who knows her own mind — she definitely brought the heart to the show, having her own strong views and disagreeing with how Wakana has been treated. Her love of cosplay is later lampshaded a little for comedic purposes but initially the two share enough similarities for their shared love of a hobby that a common theme connects the two. Wakana comes across as rather bland so far but hopefully through the course of the series he will grow to be less shy and not let people just walk all over him. Whilst there was some inevitable fanservice scenes, this was played more for comedy and fake outs then anything too on the nose, and generally this first episode stayed more on the fun, wholesome side.

Keyaru is a boy chosen to be a hero. In fact, he was chosen to be a healer, and, as such, Princess Flare comes to greet him and take him away to the imperial city where he will enlist his services to the king. Right when Flare finds out what kind of powers he has, she forms a bit of disdain for him. Of course, this all happens after our main plot is set up. The show actually starts off with Keyaru going back in time to redo his life. There, a voice called out to him where he meets the Spirit of the Stars which grants him the power to see all things… including true names, stats, and all of that nifty RPG stuff. He also regains his memories and realizes that he wanted to go back in time to reshape the world in his image and to get a measure of revenge on everyone who made his life a living hell. The episode ends with the great swordsman, Kureha, arriving at the castle. Keyaru uses his healing powers to restore her lost arm. The big drawback to his powers is that each time he heals someone, he sees and experiences all of the pain and suffering they went through to get that injury.
