I wanted to treat myself to something imaginative. It was excellent and breathtaking to watch. Blanca is a young assassin in white clothes. The answer to her goal of immortality lies in a memory of centuries ago, which she cannot recall.
Back in time, Blanca finds herself waking up in a village. Sean rescued her from a rock by the waterfalls. She falls for Sean, but is unaware that Sean is a snake-hunter. He has been ordered to hunt snakes for the Dark General and the Little General as they believe the snakes hold the key to supreme power. Soon Sean faces an attack from a snake demon. Sean is convinced Blanca is not a demon, despite all he knows about her. Soon Sean learns who Blanca is as she assumes snake form.
Will Sean still love Blanca? There will be a battle between the snake catchers and the snake spirits very soon. The Snake General wants Blanca to be extinguished since she wants to defy her snake spirit.
The film ends with a battle in thrilling fashion and in a romantic mood. The imagery of animal spirits within a person is very common in Chinese storytelling and Chinese folklore. Especially the animal spirits that exist in the humans. The film does it in a very entertaining and a very mesmerizing way. In fact it makes it very eye-catching and even brings the audience into the story. The film appears like a common Chinese fable meant to tell the story of bad and good.
However the story is also about rejecting a destiny all for the love of a man. She was a snake spirit; he was a snake hunter. It shows how the heart can win over a person even if they are destined to be something else.
The film is mostly a drama and the film succeeds in being a dramatic story. However there are some humorous moments. It does seem like a must to have some humor in an animated film. Kids will be watching. The story tries more to capture the essence of love between the two. Nevertheless the suggestiveness and the violence in the film leaves me thinking this will get a PG rating. This is an excellent film done by Light Chaser Animation. Amp has animation credits with doing the Green Lantern series.
Zhao has more credits in doing editorial work in film and this is his first direction of animation. The story by first-time scriptwriter DaMao is also excellent. It captures the story and the essence of Chinese mythology well while giving an ideal story for big-screen animation.
The vocal talent is also there. Zhang Zhe did a very good job at making Blanca sound mystical. Yang Tianxuang was also good at making Xu Xuan sound as romantic as he looked.
It will be released in North America starting only with Los Angeles on November 15th and in limited release starting November 29th. Having seen the film in Mandarin with subtitles, I would see the English-language one, but I would try to see which one in more magical.
Also those who watch the film when it comes out, I highly recommend you stay to watch the credits. Yes, there is a scene in between the credits featuring Foxy Boss that leaves you convinced there will be a sequel coming out.
The White Snake is a film with a lot of beauty and intense thrills, but it also has some humor and passion. ‘White Snake’: Film Review
Xiao-Bai, a white snake demon, is sent on a mission to assassinate the Emperor's Taoist advisor, who has been killing snakes en masse in order to achieve immortality and curry the Emperor's favor. Xiao-Bai, however, is attacked by the advisor's lackeys before she can reach him and is subsequently defeated. Luckily, the demonic hairpin she was granted by the Snake Mother is able to save her life at the cost of her memories. Xiao-Bai awakens in the Snake-catcher village, unaware that she is actually a demon or that she is surrounded by her sworn enemies.

Follow Us! Header Ads. In one particularly memorable sequence, a visit to a kind of demon shop run by a mischevious fox-demoness is full of surprises. The film has plenty of moments that would likely scare younger members of the audience. There's also violence, occasional blood and an implied sex scene- nothing enough to make this adult animation, but enough to indicate that this wasn't made as a children's film either. The central romance is not that well developed and perhaps the least interesting aspect of the film, but as an excuse for a wonderful fantasy, it works well enough. There were moments too where aspects in the dialogue seemed lost in translation, although this is likely to be improved in the eventual dubbed and subtitled versions you'll see on general release. The film is produced with such flair and confidence, it's hard to believe this is only Light Chaser's second film.

Bach Xa 2: Thanh Xa Kiep Khoi is an animated film worth watching, it has all the elements for us to entertain in terms of sight, hearing and life stories worth pondering through. White Snake 2: Green Snake is a Chinese animated series, with the material being familiar myths but modified in more novel ways. Following the success of season 1, season 2 released in its home country in July also received a positive reception from the audience, now part 2 has been streamed on the Netflix platform. If part 1 of the story focuses on the love of Bach Xa and Hua Tien, part 2 will be a story dedicated to Thanh Xa with an emphasis on this deep sisterly love.
[REVIEW] White Snake 2: Green Snake (Netflix) – Eye-catching images, deep story
Animation fans i've reviewed alot of animated movies from a lot of different countries in the world however there is one country that i'm yet to even see an animated film from let alone review of that countries animated films. Well as of today that officially ends as at least for today I'm going to reviewing an animated film that was made an animated in China and so join me as I review the film that took the Chinese box office by storm with the actual film itself being called "White Snake" enjoy. Now here is where I would tell you what the plot of the film is as well as give you my thoughts and opinions on the plot of the actual film itself. However I cannot for the life of me work out what the actual plot of this film is not because the film doesn't have a plot but because the story is pretty hard to follow which is honesty a huge problem because the film is overwise really freaking good but the film could have been perfect if it's story was so much easier to follow and if it actually had a story to actually tell. As you can no doubt tell i'm basing this review of the original Chinese dub of the film simply because this was the only version of the film that I could find online and as such it was oddly weird watching a subtitled film again for the first time in what honestly felt like years but for this film it was honestly worth it. As for what I thought about the acting in this film it was honestly alot better then what I was expecting to be.

The film was inspired by the traditional Chinese fable Legend of the White Snake, serving as a prequel to the original story, was released in China on January 11, The film then got released in Los Angeles on November 15, and on all theaters November 29, Upon re-opening, the film was among those selected for re-released at the theaters. The movie is the fourth full feature film produced by the animation studio.
The fable of the White Snake has been told in so many forms, that it's hard to argue which one is the correct narrative, giving newcomer co-directors Amp Wong and Zhao Ji the opportunity to put their own spin on the mystical characters, bringing plenty of the different twists from over the ages into play as they attempt to paint a story of well-rounded individuals, often flawed, and far from mere black and white heroes and villains. Magically-vested sisters Blanca and Verta are tasked with stopping the rule of an evil Emperor, who is draining dark energies from all the snakes in the land. After an assassination attempt on the Emperor sees Blanca defeated, she wakes in a small village with no memory of her powers, or her true nature, and falls in love with a young snake catcher Xuan. When Verta finds out what has happened, however, she takes it as a betrayal, and with the Emperor's lead sorcerer on the trail of Blanca, Xuan is about to find out that he is in way over his head. White Snake probably suits the lavish anime format for, as much as its love story core and wuxia vibe gives it some similarities to everything from Crouching Tiger to, more recently, Shadow , the extensive mystical giant super-snake CG is just better served in an animation, and far less likely to pull viewers out of the feature compare this to Iron Mask , for example.
In recent years Chinese animation, not to be confused with Japanese anime, has been making big strides. This is a stunning animated legend that, while not suitable for all ages, will entertain and inspire those who do give it a chance. White Snake tells the story of Blanca, who is actually a snake spirit or demon that can assume a human form. The problem with being human is she forgets her past and who she is. It is only when Blanca is given a magical hairpin by her sister Verta that she remembers and can begin her work to assassinate the evil General, who sucks the energy from snakes to gain complete power. Blanca goes from remembering to forgetting throughout the movie, and in many different environments. Some moments are flashbacks, others are amidst the land of the snake catchers.
