The flow is haphazard. We start off with a serial abduction case. In any case, the informant tells our heroes that the anonymous tipster refers to himself as the Azure Messenger.
Next, everyone heads to the abandoned hospital , where they find several victims entrapped in devices meant to slowly torture and kill them. First, a beautiful girl is stuck in a tank that is rapidly filling up with water. At the start of the episode, we got some lame bit where Dazai had bitten into a poisonous mushroom, and as a result, the guy was tripping balls.
Doppo screamed at him, and Atsushi got to make dumb faces on the side. Unfortunately, none of this was funny. But you gotta at least be funny, and Bungou Stray Dogs keeps dropping the ball on that front. Gonna investigate a serial abduction case?
Just saved a girl from being drowned? I wish Bungou Stray Dogs would just stick to one thing. Do you want silly banter between some hot-looking guys?
Then do that. Or do you instead want a serious story involving a detective agency, a fearsome mafia, and other dangerous people? Then do that! When you try to have both, well, you get this…. Anyway, the saved girl is oddly lucid enough to tell them that the rest of the victims are nearby. Doppo and company quickly come across several men stuck in a chamber. This time, however, the chamber is rapidly filling up with poisonous gas.
They talk to the kidnapped girl, who is of course all smiles. Atsushi proceeds to have nothing to contribute to the story but silly faces. More than anything, it just wastes valuable time. Eventually, Doppo deduces that the taxi driver is the abductor. What are his motives? Apparently, he was convinced by some black market organ dealing group to do the dirty deed. He kidnaps people, then hands them off to the organization.
How is any of this conducive to harvesting organs? Akutagawa even shows up briefly to do battle with Doppo, then… well, shit, he just conveniently exits stage right.
And why did Akutagawa just get up and leave? Because he heard sirens in the distance. Talk about lame. After all that excitement, the trail eventually leads Doppo to a building where the Azure King, a notorious terrorist, had blown himself up in the past.
Wait, what? A terrorist bomber? The Azure King. Our heroes proceed to stand still in an abandoned building and drop exposition. I always love that. With nowhere to run, our terrorist decided to commit suicide, and no, there are no jokes this time. Doppo has a strong sense of justice. And that leads us right to the cliffhanger. The supposed organ harvesting group is nowhere to be found, but our heroes find a mission from the Azure Messenger himself or herself.
Hoo boy. That was just a cover to fool the dumb taxi driver, right? Instead, our Azure Messenger was really hatching some convoluted plan to embarrass Doppo, right? We went from some serial abduction case to a terrorist bomber. And oh yeah, the Port Mafia is thrown into the mix, though we are currently unclear as to why the Azure Messenger had targeted one of their members. The problem is that they tried to squeeze all of this into one episode.
Of course, I understand that Bones is operating under several constraints, and time being one of them. It would be nice if the show could find a tone and stick to it for awhile though. Thanks for sharing. This anime is the perfect example how to make a pretty interesting and even thoughtful manga into… whatever this is.
You just need to treat viewers like idiots. A joke? It should have special effects! Cool scene? It should look cool! Black humor? And they add fillers now. Hey, what about the first main arc?
I hoped you would write about BSD, but not like that. And decidedly unfunny. Really did not expect that from Bones, especially with somewhat popular material:. That sounds brutal, honestly. Reminds me of Evangelion almost where the anime is far inferior to the manga, though this case is in reverse in production with the manga coming first and the adaptation ruining it.
Sorry to hear a series you like is being gutted like this, mate. Kyouka is the catalyst character and a mirror for Atsushi. I hope the writer will find a better way.
At least this is trying to be intriguing, ay? Better than the half-dozen cookie-cutter shows. Sadly I really do feel like this might be quite the fujoshi-centric show at points. Many points. Dazai is on shrooms. What important things are supposed to be taken away from this scene? The mushroom bit was obviously just for the laughs, yet it also showed a clear contrast between Dazai and Kunikida. This leads to Atsushi thinking the question: Why are two such incompatible people on a team? I figured this would be a question answered at the end of the episode.

All hell is breaking loose as three separate rival groups of superhumans are quickly heading for all-out war while trying to avoid the destruction of the city around them. I liked season 1 but I loved season 2. These episodes concentrate on a previously unknown member of the port mafia and they are magnificent. You will feel:. Although I believe the first four episodes to be the strongest of the season, it was still great and almost nostalgic, to rejoin the main cast as they are preparing for the rapidly escalating conflict with both the mafia and the guild. At this point, things start to speed up considerably. Although, for me, the deep emotional impact of the beginning was somewhat lost, I found it somewhat compensated by the excitement and more traditional shonen feel of the rest of the arc.

So I was kind of happy for the chance to revisit and to restructure just a little bit. The first time I watched this series, my familiarity with the authors it was referencing was pretty much zero. After watching this and reading various blog posts that looked at how they were used in this series, and coming across many of these names in other anime, I spent a bit of time reading about these authors and their work and have even read small bits and pieces of some of their work.

A fourth season for the anime series Bungo Stray Dogs has been announced today, posted on the series' Twitter account along with a new teaser graphic for the show. The show's third season aired in and streamed to both Crunchyroll and Funimation. The anime follows the character of Atsushi Nakajima, a weretiger who joins a group of others with supernatural abilities in various ventures, including solving mysteries and running a business.
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 3 Review
I jumped into Bungo Stray Dogs knowing very little about it beforehand. The story follows the life of Atsushi Nakajima, an orphan boy who finds himself recruited by a specialist mystery solving group known as the Armed Detective Agency. This group of people use their supernatural abilities to combat crime and solve mysteries within their city. Atsushi spends most of the season getting to learn the ways of the agency and in doing so gets to build his relationship with the many quirky and inhumanly gifted individuals that work for the agency. I liked the story telling approach the writers of the series used throughout this season. That same style is reflected here with Atsushi.

Despite sharing a genuinely romantic kiss back in Season 1 of Science Fell in Love , Himuro Ayame and Yukimura Shinya have spent all of Season 2 trying to determine if their love is genuine. For a time it seemed these two lovestruck but clueless young scientists would never make any real progress, but Ayame and Shinya have suddenly made an astonishing breakthrough. In Episode 6, they agree to spend the day on a relatively normal date and make minimal use of lab equipment or formulas. To their delight, the two of them stumble upon the truth of their relationship -- which has been staring them in the face all along. Their love is indeed authentic, opening up more exciting possibilities going forward. Ayame and her kuudere paramour Shinya enjoy their "normie" date, and later find themselves alone -- with remarkably good romantic ambiance. Ayame takes this chance to speak her mind and explain that just like Chris Florette and Suiu , she can only determine true love by listening to her heart and make an arbitrary declaration.
