I love that some of the supporting cast from the cartoons are also included in the movie, such as alley cat Butch Nicky Jam , Toodles, Spike Bobby Cannavale , and the bully bulldog. This film is one of them! All of the animals are animated in the movie, so I thought the fish in the fish market scene and the butterflies at the wedding were cute touches. After a hotel learns of a pesky mouse living in its walls just before a big wedding, his feline arch nemesis is hired to take care of the problem. Age group 7—11 years. Duration 98 mins. But when Jerry, a mischievous mouse, wreaks havoc in the hotel, she enlists his arch-rival Tom who is a cat to help get rid of him. This film did make me laugh a little because it did have some classic scenes that were used from the episodes but I feel that live action and cartoon animals did not mix like other films that I have seen.

The film is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and is released on HBO Max streaming service. Since then, they rapidly became pop cultural icons and are beloved by children and adults alike. But there seems to be a problem; a mouse problem by the name of Jerry. Will Kayla be able to lead the wedding and in the process, bring peace and friendship between the two arch rivals Tom and Jerry? And thank God for that! That I feel, is a great way to explain how Tom and Jerry are among live action characters without going too much into needless exposition. Good on the movie for that.

Just because it was on television when you were a kid, does not mean it was good. Those were simple, slapstick cat-and-mouse chase comedies. Tom and Jerry are also guests at the property, albeit uninvited ones. Shenanigans ensue. Director Tim Story of Barbershop and the execrable Shaft reboot and screenwriter Kevin Costello reimagine Tom as a shades-wearing street musician, throw in jokes referencing Drake, TI, and TikTok, and fill the soundtrack with classic hip-hop.

Tom, Jerry, and various other creatures are rounded out enough to pass for vaguely three-dimensional creations, but they have the same appealing design simplicity as the 2D animation of yore. This is a path less traveled for adapting classic cartoon characters into a big-budget feature film. For over 80 years, fans have been laughing at the antics of Tom and Jerry. Looking back at the iconic animated duo, it's easy to see why. Animation provides endless possibilities for well-written villains, however, there are many amazing cartoons that don't have compelling villains. Tom and Jerry will return to television screens in a new series from HBO Max in which the pair chase each other through the streets of New York.
True story: One of this writer's first teenage jobs was as a camp counselor, and one of my first assignments in that role was taking a dozen year-olds on a rainy day to the local movie theater to see 's Tom and Jerry: The Movie. If you haven't seen it, that was the supposedly "modern-minded" reboot that had Tom and Jerry talking, avoiding violence, becoming friends I spent 90 miserable minutes chasing them around the theater as they attempted to do anything but watch it; hush-screaming at them to sit down, I learned a lesson: There are few things worse than taking kids to see a movie made for them, but that doesn't even understand what they want. Not to make things all about yours truly, but this time around I have a year-old son who has been anticipating the film so much he's been watching and re-watching the trailer on YouTube for months.
Do not fall for its appearance. It may feature some of the longest lasting icons in all of animation. It may feature my entire childhood writ large on screen, but viewers beware: This is not the William Hanna and Joseph Barbera cartoons from the 40s and 50s revitalized. Oh, and Ken Jeong is in this movie as an angry chef, as he continues to perpetuate negative Asian stereotypes. The story is not about them. It just happens to feature them every once in a while.
It is still a favorite show for many people regardless of their age. Tom and Jerry, who were amazing friends taught us how to live. Carrying a judgemental attitude is not really a good thing. Especially not on the basis of their size.
