Due to its nature as a swashbuckling adventure, swords are one of the most common weapons in One Piece. Due to the sheer number of blades in the anime, it is difficult to find out the difference between them.

However, there is one easy way to figure out the discrepancy between strong swords and weak ones. One Piece features special weapons called Meito or Named Swords, which are crafted by talented swordsmiths. Named Swords have different grades, with Saijo O Wazamono being the highest, and Wazamono the lowest. But among these powerful weapons, just which ones are the strongest — and who wields them? Some of these swords are special and they grant incredible power to their wielder. According to Shimotsuki Kozaburo, the Named Swords are meant to be tamed by powerful swordsmen. These weapons are created for one thing only and that is to cut down as many opponents as they can. It is extremely difficult for an ordinary person to control the power of a Named Sword. Here are some more Named Swords, which are among the best swords in One Piece.

Cracker is a very talented swordsman as he was able to wield a huge sword-like Pretzel without any effort. Pretzel's grade is unknown but it is very likely that it is an O-Wazamono sword. Owned by Cavendish of the White Horse, Durandal is a rapier, and it is made up of a highly flexible iron. The unique iron of the sword allows Cavendish to deflect and counter many powerful attacks as the sword will not break as easily. Cavendish was able to use Durandal to counter one of Don Chinjao's attacks without facing many problems.

While in his Hakuba form, Cavendish was able to launch quick attacks which were able to knock out almost every fighter competing in his block. One of Shiki's swords, Oto is a Named Sword of an unknown grade.

The sword was used by Shiki in many ferocious battles which included fights against Gol D. Roger, Sengoku, and Monkey D. While fighting Garp and Sengoku, Shiki was able to kill many normal Marines with these swords and he very likely managed to wound Garp.

Raiu is a nodachi that is wielded by Shiryu, one of the members of the Blackbeard Pirates. It is a Named Sword with a fairly simple design. Shiryu has killed countless people with this sword. The sword's grade is unknown, but it is possible that it could be one of the 21 O-Wazamono swords.

Raiu's true power remains a mystery, but that will change towards the end of the series. Kogarashi is wielded by the legendary pirate, Shiki the Golden Lion. Shiki has numerous feats to his name. He is the first prisoner to escape from Impel Down. Shiki also managed to destroy a large part of Marineford on his own. After chopping off his legs, Shiki used Oto and Kogarashi as his legs.

The grade of the sword is unknown, but it is highly possible that it is a Ryo-Wazamono or a higher grade. It is a cursed sword that was crafted by Kotetsu. The sword is inferior to Shodai Kitetsu in terms of strength and grade, but it is likely still quite strong considering its own grade. This sword has not been used in a serious battle, so it is difficult to rank the power of the blade.

It was previously wielded by Kozuki Oden. The sword was gifted to Zoro by Hiyori in exchange for returning Shusui to him. Enma also has the unique ability to draw out Haki from an individual, which makes Zoro's attacks all the more powerful. Griffon is a sword of an unknown grade and it is wielded by Shanks, the captain of the Red Hair Pirates.

There is a very strong possibility of Griffon being a Saijo O Wazamono sword, as it has proved to be quite durable over the course of several fights. Shanks has clashed his sword against Whitebeard's Murakumogiri, which caused the sky to split.

Shanks was able to stop Akainu's devil fruit enhanced attack with his sword, and the sword was not damaged from the attack. All things point towards Shanks' Griffon being a named sword of the highest grade.

It was the first and the best of its kind; the Kitetsu swords crafted after Shodai Kitetsu were not of the same grade. Shodai Kitetsu is one of the twelve Saijo O Wazamono grade swords. Being a Kitetsu sword, Shodai Kitetsu is a cursed sword and it is destined to bring a gruesome death to its wielder. It is one of the few swords that fans have not yet seen in action, but that might change in the future. Who knows who may wield this powerful blade? Unlike the other named swords, Murakumogiri is wielded as naginata.

It is a Saijo O-Wazamono sword, which naturally makes it one of the strongest weapons in the series. Whitebeard used the Murakumogiri quite efficiently. He used the weapon to overwhelm Blackbeard in a fight, with the latter only surviving because of his unique body.

Whitebeard was also able to combine his devil fruit ability with his Murakumogiri to further increase its power. There was always speculation that Roger's sword was a named sword, and this was confirmed recently.

Roger's sword is one of the twelve Saijo O Wazamono swords, which is befitting of the pirate with the highest bounty in the series. The sword is named Ace. It is possible that Roger had very deep affection towards his sword, which is why he decided to name his son Ace after his blade. As a Saijo O Wazamono sword, Ace is a very powerful weapon. A single attack from Roger's sword was enough to send Kozuki Oden flying through several boulders. Mihawk's Yoru was the first Saijo O-Wazamono weapon to be revealed in the series.

Yoru is an all-black blade, worthy of being wielded by the Strongest Swordsman in the World. With the power of this blade, Mihawk has managed to cut down a giant iceberg and large galleons with ease. The flying slashes from the blade are incredibly accurate and can cause hefty damage to the surroundings.
