This tweet got a response from the chicken sandwich market leader, Chick-fil-A.

To most people it was a fun banter to watch unfold. This sent customers flocking to Popeyes nationwide. To the chagrin of the competition, not only did Popeyes bring it to the table, but they also delivered what they claimed.

Popeyes locations were selling out of their chicken sandwiches. In just over two weeks, Popeyes had to announce that they had sold through all of their inventory. A good marketer will always tell you, the best thing you can do to create success is by creating demand, then becoming scarce. This unintentional or intentional supply chain issue created greater demand for their product. After a two-month hiatus they reintroduced their chicken sandwich, coincidently, on National Sandwich Day, which fell on a Sunday.

A Sunday on which their competitor Chick-fil-A would be closed. Perhaps a marketing genius is what it is. Now it is making its move on desserts. The chain has introduced a new Strawberry Biscuit. Most people put butter, jam or jelly on plain biscuits. This makes it more of a treat and easier to eat on the run. This article is about the character. For the restaurant chain, see Wimpy Bar. Wellington Wimpy , or just Wimpy , is one of the characters in the long-running comic strip Thimble Theatre and in the Popeye cartoons based upon it. He is a hefty hamburger lover and close friend of Popeye's, known for his mooching ways and a deceptively high level of intelligence. He is a soft-spoken and cowardly gentleman who will do whatever it takes to get a free hamburger, often with the promise to gladly repay the kind soul that gives him one come Tuesday, which he generally never does. Wimpy has become a well-known and loved character in his own right, often seen as one of the most recognizable fraidy sidekicks in cartoons and whose association with hamburgers has led him to be featured in many advertisements related to the meaty patty. As Segar increasingly shifted the Sunday continuity's primary setting to the Rough House Cafe in the spring of , however, Wimpy's habitual mooching correspondingly became his primary narrative function, thus modifying his manner of speech from its initial gruffer and more colloquial state to a more eloquent and convoluted form; while prone to bribery and deception within prior strips, the magnitude of the emotions feigned by Wimpy likewise became increasingly bombastic and bizarre, often enabling him to conjure heavily romanticized displays of sorrow or joy near-instantaneously in the service of his gluttonous motives.

There's nothing that triggers nostalgia like food. Whether it's the smell of a strawberry rhubarb pie that takes you straight back to childhood summers at grandma's house, the first bite of a hearty steak sandwich that reminds you of going to lunch with your dad, or the warm bubbly cheese of takeout pizza transporting you back to high school movie nights, we all know that warm, familiar feeling. For some of us, the foods that bring back our strongest memories are the old-fashioned items we grew up ordering at big fast-food chains like McDonald's and Wendy's , where they always tasted the same no matter what. Unfortunately, whether your favorite childhood chain has closed forever or a special menu item has been permanently discontinued, many of the classic foods we once delighted in are gone for good. But while you can't always go back, you can reminisce…or, just keep reading to get your belly rumbling for fast food menu items you may never see again.
