Fairy Tail wraps up series with bittersweet goodbye
So I finally caught up to the Fairy Tail anime and I just finished watching the final season! The final season in the anime was still kinda disappointing but I gotta say it's still better than the manga, the major fights were done better in the anime but the final battle against Zeref and Acnologia is the same as the manga, I really thought they're gonna change the outcome of the battle but in the end Natsu just one shots both Zeref and Acnologia with the power of friendship and all the Seven Dragonslayers and the anime finally ended with Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza and Wendy going on the Year Quest!
Let's start with the openings and endings for the final season, well they all sounded good and the visuals showed us everything that went down on this final season of Fairy Tail! But honestly, I didn't liked the songs for the final season of Fairy Tail, the visuals were the only good things about the opening and ending in this final season!
Now let's talk about the story and the plot of the final season, well it started right after the Tartaros arc, after 2 years of training, Natsu came back to Magnolia and he was reunited with Lucy, then they found Wendy and Juvia! Gray on the other hand was missing and they found out that he has joined a dark guild that worships Zeref which is Avatar! So Natsu decided to look for Gray and he promised Juvia that he will bring him back to her! They went to the dark guild Avatar and found Gray, Gray then challenges Natsu to a fight and they fought the members of Avatar as well!
In the end, Gray was just a spy for Avatar and he told everything that has happened to him for the last 2 years, he told Lucy and Natsu that he's still a Fairy Tail wizard! Then Natsu and Gray decided to attack Avatar because they had evil plans! Erza then shows up and joins the fight against Avatar! In the end of the Avatar arc, we finally see Zeref and he summoned the Spriggan 12, Zeref tells them his plan of conquering Ishgar and capturing Fairy Heart!
Acnologia was also preparing for the big war that's about to erupt! So yeah basically the whole story of the final season is all about the Alvarez arc and the final battle against Zeref and Acnologia! The Avatar arc was just a prologue to the final season. There's good things about this final season of Fairy Tail and there's also bad things about it, most of the fights were just really lacklustre and really disappointing but some of the fights looked amazing!
Let's talk about the good things first, what I really liked in this final season of Fairy Tail is the animation, I mean it's not as good as the Tartaros arc but the animation was still good! The fights that I really enjoyed watching in the final season is when Natsu fought Zeref in the Alvarez Kingdom, that was dope I'm not gonna lie.
I thought Natsu was actually gonna defeat Zeref in their first battle but Natsu failed because he just suddenly collapsed! I also liked the backstory of Natsu and Zeref and the fact that Natsu was Zeref's younger brother, he died but Zeref studied Ankhaseram Black Magic to ressurect his dead brother!
Natsu was resurrected into a demon and became END, the strongest demon in the book of Zeref! Wendy and Chelia vs Dimaria was also a really good fight and it was better than the manga, Dimaria transformed to her Take Over form and she became Chronos but Wendy and Ultear didn't beat her because she was too powerful so Ultear used her strongest magic Arc of Time on Chelia and they finally beat her! But Chelia loses all of her Sky God powers in exchange! Gajeel vs Bloodman was really good too because it was so emotional and Gajeel won by absorbing Bloodman's Bane magic which tranformed his Iron Dragon Force magic.
But at the end of this battle, I really got emotional because Gajeel confesses to Levy and Levy doesn't want Gajeel to die, but Bloodman takes him with him in his death and Lily stopped Levy from saving Gajeel.
It was one of those moments as well that Juvia nearly died because she got forced to fight Gray but in the end she stabbed herself and gave Gray another chance to live! Thankfully though, Wendy saved Juvia from her death and healed her wounds!
And I know you guys won't agree with me but Irene vs Erza and Wendy was a good fight too, it's just the ending that really ruined the entire fight because Erza managed to destroy a meteor with a broken arm and Fairy magic!
I mean, this was just really bad in the manga but the anime made it look more epic even though it was still an asspull! Now the bad things about the final season, pretty much all of the fights against the Spriggan 12 except the ones that I mentioned on the pros. Didn't liked the Erza vs Ajeel, Laxus vs Machias although the ending was good cuz Laxus used a new Thunder Dragon Slayer Magic to defeat him, didn't liked Brandish vs Lucy and I guess the most disappointing battle in this final season was Zeref getting one shot by Natsu!
I mean there's no logical way on how Natsu was able to defeat Zeref in one attack but it's just another asspull in my opinion. I guess it's because Natsu was the only one who can kill Zeref but I still didn't liked the way Zeref went down in that final battle!
It's basically just the same as the manga, although the manga was worse in my opinion. Another fight that I didn't liked was August vs Gildarts and Cana, the whole battle was good until we get to the ending where August just self destructs after she sees Mavis, his mother! I thought August was really gonna destroy Magnolia with Ars Magna but it all got negated after he saw Mavis!
It was just really anti-climactic, August was the most powerful member in the Spriggan 12 and he just kills himself in the end. I liked the moment where he finally sees his mother Mavis because he grew up without his parents, but Zeref took him in his care and made him the leader of the Spriggan 12, it's just the way he ended his life is what I didn't really liked in this battle, but then again if he did use Ars Magna then he would have killed Mavis in the process!
Now I did say that Irene vs Erza was one of the good fights in the final season but the ending just ruined the whole battle. I mean after seeing the asspull of Erza destroying a meteor with a broken arm and slashing the Queen of Dragons, it just got worse after Irene decided to kill herself because she never really had the intention to kill Erza, her own daughter!
But yeah, that's how the Queen of Dragons was defeated! Now we know Erza is a half dragon and that explains why she never lost a fight and why she was able to defeat Irene who is the Queen of Dragons!
And then we get to the real final battle against the King of Dragons, Acnologia and Natsu and all the Dragonslayers!
I liked the beggining of the battle because all the Dragonslayers including Natsu couldn't beat Acnologia but the ending was just really really disappointing because just like Zeref, Acnologia was defeated with a single punch from Natsu! Natsu did have a massive powerup after absorbing all the Seven Dragonslayer magic but I just still couldn't believe Acnologia was taken down with just one hit! Acnologia was a being stronger than Zeref and he was able to absorb the Rift of Time as well but still gets one shot by Natsu!
I'm glad we got a backstory on Acnologia in the anime which wasn't shown in the manga, Acnologia used to be good but because his dragon friend was killed by humans who's name is also Acnologia, he was consumed by hatred and revenge he became the Magic Demon Dragon known as Acnologia and that's basically the reason why he wants to destroy all the dragons, dragonslayers and humanity!
And the ending of the final episode was pretty much the same as the manga, Lucy became a journalist, Gajeel and Levy are now a couple and Levy is pregnant, Jellal and Crime Sorciere has been granted Amnesty which means they're free now and Mavis and Zeref were reincarnated as normal human beings so everyone in Fairy Tail and all the other magic guilds lived happily ever after after defeating Acnologia!
So overall the final season of Fairy Tail was okay, it had good and bad moments but if I'm going to compare it to the last season, it's not as good as the previous season! It's certainly not the best anime of but it's still worth watching especially if you're a fan of the Fairy Tail anime! Tartaros arc was so much better than the final season I'm not gonna lie, it has better storytelling, animation and fight scenes and there was no asspulls!
We all know that Fairy Tail is not completely over because there's a Year Quest manga and it's still ongoing, but the final episode of the final season of Fairy Tail is still the ending for the series! Amidst of all the hate, Fairy Tail will still be one of the best shonen anime that I've watched! The anime when it started 4 years ago was one of the most anticipated shonen anime!
The last season and the final arc in the manga was definitely the downfall of the series but all the other seasons of Fairy Tail were good and that's the reason why it's still one of the best shonen anime!
The anime is finally getting a video game as well on the PS4 which is good news for Fairy Tail fans! Maybe they will adapt the Year Quest spinoff into an anime as well in the future and I'll definitely watch it if it comes out! The anime series Fairy Tale is beloved. Although there are many great episodes, these are the absolute best, according to their IMDb rankings. After ten years and almost episodes, the adventures of Fairy Tail have come to a close. The original story for Hiro Mashima is at its end, and our heroes are mostly victorious. The follow up to Mavis and Zeref is still engrossing, as it continues the story of what happens after that episode ended.

Gray freaks out telling her that she must be crazy, when she mentions that he has some sort of weapon on his sleeve that could hurt him. Carla mentions that Natsu is not alone, he has Happy with him too. Happy is asked to go down towards the army. Natsu engages and begins talking about everyone one after the other. Natsu punches and destroys even more land and people. The army attacks but Natsu is just too strong for them. Zeref appears! Fairy Tail ends here.
