Kaminomi shares View profile View Blog. Comic Books Magazine Authors. Space Dandy is a dandy with the undead! Last week on Space Dandy, Dandy and his crew fought back the Deathgerian in an attempt to get their lost Boobies card back.
Summary of Space Dandy Episode 4: After capturing a strange alien, the crew tries to figure out what it is. In the process of doing so, Meow gets bitten by the alien. The next day, Meow becomes sluggish, so the crew admits him into a hospital, where he deteriorates into a zombie and starts turning the rest of the patrons into zombies. They, however, become zombies. Dandy, Mew, and QT then try to adjust to the hard life of being a zombie.
My Take: Somehow, this has been the craziest episode of the series so far. Yeah, Dandy. They want to hug you. And kiss you. But zombies? Did anyone see that coming? Even though this was probably the funniest episode so far, it seems a little out of place.
In all the other episodes, there was a first, second, and third act. Here, it felt a little off. It was almost as if the premise of the episode was formed out of one idea that was never expanded upon.

With the announcement that Mike Flanagan is taking on his third Stephen King adaptation in Revival , I wondered how many upcoming King projects there currently are. Back a thousand years ago in , It was the most successful R-rated film of all time, and the floodgates opened up. Every single King project was seemingly up for appraisal, and these greenlights started to start releasing last year. More are coming. None of these projects have release dates or any promotional art released. Dauberman is directing. This one seems likely to get made, with New Line. But to be honest, I've never seen a zombie apocalypse detailed like this in my 24 years of life. Considering Space Dandy is the mentally challenged brother of Cowboy Bebop , I wouldn't expect any less. The beginning of this episode actually has a very intense scary tone to it coupled with the usual hilarious antics of the Aloha Oe crew. We constantly see victims getting attacked by one zombie after another, being turned into their food supply; even the main villain of the series Dr.

My understanding of the premise was that Las Vegas was walled off to contain a zombie outbreak, a team of mercenaries were hired to go in for a heist, and the hero was really trying to rescue his daughter who was stuck in there. As always, Snyder is unpredictable. But here we are. It starts with the beginning of the zombie outbreak, which seems to be alien in origin. So Scott goes to some old buddies and some others. You know I love a good old fashioned recruiting-the-team sequence.

After being bit by a strange-looking alien, Meow becomes very lethargic and sick. Our heroes examine the Stiltonian alien they have captured, but are unsure if it is a new species because of it's slow movement and discolorization, in contrast to the alien handbook Dandy and crew are referring to. Meow attempts to point out a color discrepancy on the alien's abdomen, but gets bitten in the process. After QT concludes the species they have captured is not a Stiltonian, Dandy and crew head back to the bridge of the Aloha Oe , en route to the Alien Registration Center to register and cash in on their catch. Unbeknownst to Dandy, QT notices a change in Meow's overall well-being, deeply concerned about his lethargy, communication, and lack of response to any stimuli.

So what makes Space Dandy different? That variety also means that most people will find something they enjoy in the show. Personal taste accounts for a great deal in how much a viewer will enjoy this sort of show, and Space Dandy covers a wide range of styles. The drawback of that approach, of course, is that not every episode will resonate with the viewer. For instance, I personally did not find the obligatory zombie episode very engaging simply because of its subject matter. Also worth mentioning is an episode highly reminiscent of the recent animated film Redline , from which Space Dandy took some obvious inspiration in its character design and animation style.
