‘Adventure Time’ is One of the Best Animated Shows of the 2010s. Here’s Why.
The Batman has spread its wings and success over to HBO Max , opening up the movie to another segment of the general audience. The movie was a critical and commercial success, though the streaming platform has plenty of other solid Batman content available. BTAS perfectly balances the inherently whimsical nature of comic books with thought-provoking noir nuance. Freeze story on top of being a great Batman story. Its legacy is palpable, as the popular iteration of the sympathetic villain that fans now know in comics, video games, and other mass media is the version that Batman: The Animated Series put together.
Freeze was a joke villain from the Silver Age of comics. Heart of Ice turns Victor Fries into an imposing force and tragic character who is a monstrous product of corporate greed. Arguably the most psychologically trippy episode of BTAS , Perchance to Dream takes fans on a mind-bending journey through the traumatized mind of Bruce Wayne. Something feels off, though, and he begins to doubt that his life could ever be this happy and gradually becomes more and more paranoid. Batman teams up with the struggling actor to find the bomber, with the latter donning the Gray Ghost persona.
However, after letting himself loose on a mad spending spree, he finds out that the bills were all fakes. The late Barlowe used this opportunity as a bitter parting shot from beyond the grave. This year marks two really big events for Superman: The Animated Series. First, the cartoon celebrated its 25th anniversary last month check out our retrospective piece on why the series is great and second, it has finally been released on Blu-ray [ read our review here ]. Spanning 54 episodes the show is notable for following in the footsteps of Batman: The Animated Series with a focus on strong writing, characterization, adherence to the source material and many mature stories. Leslie Willis was a radio shock jock who had a dissenting opinion on Superman and is turned into Livewire after suffering an accident during a rain and lightning storm.

Any top ten list for something as beloved as Batman: The Animated Series is going to provoke its fair share of disagreement, and I fully realize that there are people who are going to count my opinion as absolutely worthless for giving one of the episodes that's commonly regarded as the worst of the series a top slot over classics like Harley's Holiday or the award-winning Robin's Reckoning. But to be honest, there are two kinds of people in this world: Those who think Cool Hand Luke starring Batman is awesome, and those who don't. As much as you can decry this episodes as being a shameless, blatant The Forgotten is unique. It breaks almost every rule of the series.
