Zootopia film

Zootopia started off as an animated comedy about a city full of talking animals. Then it found a deeper side as a slightly subversive study on tolerance and diversity. It might be a society full of all creatures great and small, but at the core of Disney's Zootopia in theaters Friday are very real-world human issues tackled by a plot that features rookie rabbit cop Judy Hopps voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin and fast-talking fox con artist Nick Wilde Jason Bateman. Putting two natural enemies from the wild in a contemporary story allowed directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore to build an animal metropolis where there is a social contract between all species, with predator and prey working together.

How to cite “Zootopia” (movie)

Disney has been making animated films for around 80 years, and more often-than-not they strike gold. Zootopia is one of the winners, and I have no problems saying that the film is the very first Oscar contender of To have all three working together on a project is probably why Zootopia got the love and care it deserved.

Simmons and more. The story centres around a cute little bunny named Judy Hopps Ginnifer Goodwin who lives in the small town of Bunnyburrow. From a young age Judy wants to become a cop. Determined to prove everyone wrong, Judy graduates at the top of her class at the Zootopia Police Academy and becomes the first bunny to be accepted into the Zootopia Police Department, or ZPD as they call it.

She moves to the bustling metropolis and is surprised to see animals of every species living together in harmony. When Mrs. Otterton Octavia Spencer comes into the precinct begging the force to find her missing husband, Judy volunteers for the job, much to the chagrin of Chief Bogo.

This sets Judy on a dangerous path where she meets new friends including a con-artist fox named Nick Wilde Jason Bateman who ends up helping her navigate the seedy underworld of Zooptopia. Together they try to solve a crime and learn an important lesson while doing so. Despite the heaviness, this film is boat loads of fun, not only for kids, but for parents too. Disney tackles a very sensitive issue of what happens when different people and cultures find themselves living together, but are segregated when prejudice rears its ugly head.

Fear becomes the underlining problem where even best intentions unknowingly causes a rift between animals. Instead the lesson is subtle, delivered through the inherent humour of the film. Everything about this film is beautiful. The animation is top-shelf and every detail including each strand of bunny hair is gorgeous.

The comedic timing is perfect, and having one of the leads voiced by someone with the dry wit and charm that Jason Bateman oozes is why this film works. The voice actors are each perfectly cast with their spirit animal. They all bring something to the story and their individual characters.

With so many great actors involved things could have gotten very convoluted, but instead everyone adds something special to the ensemble. Smaller kids might find some scenes a bit scary, but older kids, 5 and up, will enjoy the silliness and the action. Receive direct access to our top content, contests and perks. Zootopia wants to teach kids about prejudice. Is it accidentally sending the wrong message?

The months in between Oscar season and summer blockbusters can be a bit of a letdown for movies in the theater, but this year, there is at least one movie that is most definitely worth seeing on the big screen— Zootopia. Released in March, Zootopia has a 98 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with everyone from 5-year-olds to year-olds rushing to the theaters to see this gem. Zootopia is about more than funny sloths. If you went to the movies at all over the winter, you saw the trailer for Zootopia , featuring the two main characters Judy the bunny and Nick the fox having a frustrating encounter with a group of sloths. The scene is quite funny, very well done I empathized quite strongly with the bunny , and did a great job marketing the movie for kids. The real content of the movie however, turned out to be a pleasant, and very relevant, surprise.

Zootopia: 7 easter eggs you might have missed

By Michael Sragow on March 3, Zootopia is an exhilaratingly off-balance epic comedy in cartoon form. One smart, heroic bunny cop, Judy Hopps Ginnifer Goodwin , and one savvy, resourceful con-man fox, Nick Wilde Jason Bateman , get 48 hours movie reference! Happily, even when the movie gets warm and fuzzy, its zany framework and nonstop inventiveness—and its cheeky sensibility—keep it from going mushy. Animals from A to Z from aardvarks to zebras—or, to name characters we get to know, from Arctic shrews to yaks now stand up straight on two paws or hooves. All the others suit up and take public transportation to jobs in shops, banks, building sites, and government offices. The clash between the ideals and reality of this storied metropolis lend this fantasy a keen satiric edge.

But you know, for kids. With cute animals and stuff. Zootopia takes place in a world completely populated by anthropomorphic animals, where predators and prey live together in relative harmony and have suppressed their more savage urges. Well, everybody does. Until it reveals the larger game at hand, Zootopia treads familiar ground with its story of a young upstart learning the ropes of the urban jungle get it? Zootopia does an above-average job of making its many disparate setpieces feel more cohesive when compared to most other animated family films like it, but the film still falls into the Shrek trap of attempting to shoehorn in something for every possible viewer, whether or not it fits. When the film gets to play around with the innate comedy of animals sporadically doing animal things while otherwise acting like people, Zootopia has a goofy appeal to it that particularly pops in the exchanges between Goodwin and Bateman as reluctant partners attempting to solve the disappearances of over a dozen animals, some of which have seemingly reverted to their basest instincts.

Determined to prove herself, Officer Judy Hopps, the first bunny on Zootopia's police force, jumps at the chance to crack her first case.

This is the Disney of Robin Hood and Mickey Mouse — cute, anthropomorphised animals, walking on hind legs, talking up cosy platitudes. A familiar formula ready to delight pre-teens and be packaged for enthusiastic toy merchandisers. But Zootropolis has more in common with Pixar than it first appears. The fictional universe it presents — a human-free world where mammals have evolved into a bustling, civilised society — is vividly realised, richly detailed and very funny. Our guide through this world is Judy Hopps voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin , a bunny cop in a buddy-cop movie, paired with a mismatched partner — a fox.

All her life, Judy Hopps Gennifer Goodwin has wanted to make a difference.

Zootopia tells the story of Judy Hopps voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin , who becomes the first rabbit cop in a police force full of fierce predator animals and moves to the central sector of the animal city Zootopia. With few clues, Judy finds herself working together with the con artist fox Nick Wilde voiced by Jason Bateman. Together, they must put aside their differences and combine their strengths to find the missing animal — all before Judy loses her job! A lot of the plot is centered around tensions between predators and prey two naturally conflicting groups and stereotypes. Bunnies are stereotypically cute, defenseless animals; foxes are stereotypically sneaky, selfish, and cunning. But Judy, who may be a cute bunny, also graduated at the top of her class at the police academy.

Traditionally seen as children's entertainment, the higher quality entries in this genre have hit a sweet spot with enough sophisticated jokes for parents to enjoy, coupled with cutesy animation to delight children. Disney's latest film, "Zootopia" achieves this, though it seems to skew more adult in its content, if not its characters.
