The restart lack the charm and adventure this series does, although this volume feels a little punch heavy, it is nothing compared to the "beat'em up" that Dragonball Z will be. The battle between Goku and Piccolo is awesome and action packed, and also full of suspense. Possibly the coolest chapter in the book is "The Ten Count".
This is the part where Goku unleashes all his strength against Piccolo and mortally wounds him. I highly recommend it for any reader of manga, whether you like Dragon Ball or not.
