Jessica Pupillo , Staff Writer September 7, However, while there are definitely shows that can be considered less than superb that have been created in the last ten or so years or that have declined over time, there are also a lot of shows that have broken bounds, are smarter, more unique, etc. This show is one of the most popular cartoons on TV and is definitely deserving of such popularity. It also includes hilarious characters, amazing visuals and a great overarching theme related to growing up and adolescence.
Adult animated programs can range from insightful and brilliant to stupid and offensive. Sometimes it can even be a combination of all of those things. While the first few episodes seem like any other adult cartoon comedy, the show quickly takes a very drastic turn in terms of emotional and visual storytelling.
This is one thing that makes the show stand out from other adult cartoon programs or even simply other television programs. The situations and emotions of these characters are things that many people can relate to. On top of the emotional situations that the characters find themselves in, it is also a fantastic show in terms of comedy, story structure and continuity.
This show is never lacking in new or original comedy just watch either episode involving interdimensional cable , but also makes sure to touch on some larger issues the characters are dealing with.
Like many of the other shows mentioned in this article, many smart cartoons today touch on mental health issues surrounding their characters. Sometimes it is used in a long monologue after a near-death experience, while other times it is played off as Rick trying to hide his pain through drinking or not caring or humor.
We as a society tend to look at the past as something to constantly yearn for and think that nothing will ever top what once was. This line of thinking, however, is very limited and close-minded, especially concerning the programs we watch. For every awful animated show created, there are fantastic and intelligent animated programs that are breaking boundaries with every new episode. It all depends on personal opinions, preference and the ability for viewers to keep an open mind about present day shows.

DOI: Popular culture reflects not only events, but also the nature of the modern era and problematic aspects that require the attention of the state and society. The article examines new vectors of socio-political transformation of modern society and their reflection in animation. The study of modern cartoons shows that they have replaced traditional myths and began to broadcast social norms and their transformation. Special attention is paid to the growing role of horizontal ties and the increase in the value of the family and the institution of reputation, caused by the highest degree of transparency of the modern information society. In addition, the article notes a change in ideas about romantic love. At the same time, the value of individualism fades into the background, giving way to mutual assistance to achieve the common good. The article emphasizes that atomization and individualism were characteristic of human culture for a fairly short period of time. They appeared after the collapse of traditional society, urbanization and the next industrial revolution.

This was thanks to a plethora of awesome cartoons while we were growing up, that kept us watching years after most normal folk gave it up to date and have pre-marital sex. Nowadays, a common practice in animated children shows across networks like Disney and Cartoon Network is hiding a deeper theme within their plot. Gravity Falls deals with plots as simple Scooby-Doo style mysteries while also handling a portrayal of the apocalypse and therefore the death of every character. The show also deals with mature topics such as parental relationships, as the two main characters are children who are raised by their single great-uncle. Another show that expresses non-traditional parental relationships is Steven Universe, currently airing on Cartoon Network. The show follows twelve-year-old Steven and his adventures with an alien species. Steven recognizes that his biological mother is gone, but he accepts the maternal role that the three alien lifeforms play in his life, breaking the heteronormative familial relationships that are frequently portrayed in the media. Since the alien lifeforms are not human, they do not fit into the normal human gender binary.
