Writer of original light novel : Yuyuko Takemiya. When it comes to Toradora I find it hard to decide where I should begin. Perhaps I should start by saying that I really enjoyed the series. Takasu Ryuuji looks damned scary.

Mel: Hello, it is I, the author. Maddie: Hello! The above organisation is also how we arrange ourselves on the sofa. It went swell. First thing we noticed was obviously the large anime eyes, because Toradora! The scene starts with Taiga and Ryuuji bumping into one another by accident in the school corridor.
Ryuuji thinks about how small Taiga is:. The episode bumbles along as most of characters from the opening credits are introduced. Taiga is famous school-wide — could he really have avoided hearing about her before now? I know what the future episodes hold, after all. Toradora Review
Despite them both having reputations for being wild and dangerous, they are actually fairly ordinary high schoolers with fairly ordinary issues: Taiga struggles with living on her own due to absentee parents, while Ryuji has to deal with the violent appearance he has inherited from his father, resulting in him having few friends outside of classmate Yusaku Kitamura, his mother and their annoying pet parrot. Quickly setting a precedent, their first encounter leads to a bigger bust-up when Ryuji discovers a love letter from Taiga to Yusaku in his bag, before the girl who conveniently lives in the giant apartment block next door bursts in through the window with murderous intent. Despite hearing many good things about this series since it first aired over ten years ago, I had actually not taken the time to watch it until now and doing so in was frankly an utter joy, taking me back to a golden age in slice-of-life rom-com anime, something that I have indeed been missing as I was constantly reminded of some of my favourites that this seems very similar to, like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya for example. What you get in this series is two great halves, with the first being utter comedy gold with a very light-hearted tone that builds up the characters really well, before setting in for a more dramatic second half as the romantic developments come to a head. Pairing up a suffering, serious character like Ryuji with the hot-headed Taiga makes for an unstoppable duo, with the two of them instantly having great chemistry. This goes for the side characters too, who, like Taiga and Ryuji, have their own issues and romances to deal with, but are always shown earnestly going for it.

The title comes from the names of the two protagonists, Taiga and Ryuuji. Moving on to the plot, Taiga and Ryuuji find themselves working together in an attempt to set each other up with their respective crushes. But, as you can probably figure out, they end up falling for each other instead. Overall, Toradora! Everything that you expect a rom-com to have, Toradora! For example, I think the supporting cast of this series the characters outside of the main five is a lot better than in newer anime like Horimiya. Part of that is because Toradora! Ryuuji Takasu is the male protagonist of the series. He lives with his mother, Yasuko, and their pet bird, Inko. Taiga lives alone in an apartment, being estranged from both of her parents who are divorced.

Is it that good? Does it truly stand up to the great, and almost perfect Suzumiya? Not so fast, sunshine. I'll break it down bit by bit and offer you my final analysis a little deeper into this review.

A compressed, modern Kimagure Orange Road TV with more legitimate angst and slapstick, less psychics. Ryuuji Takasu, age 17, is an above-average kid. Having raised himself alongside his airhead mother after his gangster father got himself killed, Ryuuji can out-domestic the average housewife and has a burning passion for cleaning. Unfortunately for his social life, he inherited his father's scary glare. A fateful turn of events introduces him to Taiga Aisaka, his next-door neighbor--known at school as The Palm-top Tiger due to her short stature and even shorter temper.

Thursday, May 28, Toradora Review. I have to say that I truly enjoyed the Toradora Series. I usually don't go out of my way to watch every anime made available but after watching a few episodes of Toradora, I got hooked. Hooked enough to borrow the series and watch it marathon style. Yeah, my eyes are still bulging from watching it. The series revolves around two protagonists, Ryuuji Takasu, Taiga Aisaka and their friends.
It's Ryuji's first day in junior high school and it seems as if things are looking up. He gets to sit in between his only friend, Yusaku, and, more importantly, the girl he's secretly crushing on, Minori Kushieda. But just when he thinks the stars are aligned in his favour, he unwittingly crosses the most feared girl in school, Taiga Aisaku, making her onto his arch enemy. To top it off, Taiga has moved in right next door to Ryuji and happens to be Minori's best friend! Can this school year possibly get any worse? Share on.
