Wolf's Rain is the thirtieth and final episode of Wolf's Rain. The episode was not aired in Japan, but instead was treated as the fourth OVA. As the final battle begins, Darcia quickly gains the upper hand over Kiba , and tries to secure Cheza , but Blue intercepts him at the cost of her own life. Having mortally wounded Blue, Darcia snatches up Cheza in his jaws and attempts to reach the summit of the First Mountain, with Kiba in hot pursuit. Hige , his throat torn open while trying to defend Cheza, comforts the dying Blue before Tsume reaches them. Kiba, Tsume, and Darcia battle near the summit, while the wounded Cheza wanders towards the crater at its center. Tsume's left side is badly ripped during his fight with Darcia, but he angrily rejects Kiba's help, demanding that Kiba go after Darcia and stop him. As Kiba descends into the crater, Tsume echoes Hige's words that they will meet in Paradise. He then collapses, and dies. Darcia and Kiba battle again as Cheza begins to take root, her limbs lengthening and becoming more and more plant-like.

Episode One: The City of Howls. The episode opens up with a monologue. In the middle of their celebration, a large ship floats overhead, identified as belonging to a nobleman. Now jumping to the city, we meet a man, in a sour mood, and his dog, Walking into a bar he strikes up a conversation with the barkeep, We hear a legend from the the barkeep. When the world comes to an end, paradise will appear on earth, but only wolves will be able to find it. For some reason, this angers the stranger, and we find out that wolves are believed to have died out years ago. The camera pans outside of the bar, giving a view to the attackers walking past. The leader, identified as Tsume looks at the strangers dog, tied up outside the bar.
The series follows four wolves in human form and a Lunar Flower Maiden as they travel to the ends of the Earth to find Paradise before the world ends. Many who grew up watching it remember it fondly and talk of how it changed them as people, and for good reason. The series had strong themes of hope, friendship, and desire; many consider this anime a work of art. As good as this series was, however, many fans were perplexed by how it ended.

Now reunited, Cher and Hubb decide to accompany the wolves in hopes of seeing the journey through to its end, while a distraught and confused Quent wanders aimlessly into the wasteland with his mind fixated on revenge. Meanwhile, Lord Darcia the Third has finally put his plot into motion and pursues Cheza, pitting him against the pack. As everything falls apart yet simultaneously falls into place, the wolves struggle to survive in an increasingly dangerous environment.
