Whether it is a story about toys, robots, animals, monsters, or humans, Disney Pixar is amazingly good in leaving you in tears at the end of the movie. How does Pixar manage to make even adults cry their eyes out for animated characters? Of course, this can just be my personal emotional incontinence. But it is remarkable how many adults will admit that they had a hard time holding back their tears during Pixar animations. Although the video is obviously sarcastic, the fact that it is amusing to watch indicates that there is some truth in the tear inducing effect that Pixar movies have on their audiences.

'Inside Out' is Disney Pixar's look at sweet emotions
Elsa has magical powers that allow her to control ice and snow, a gift she uses when playing with her younger sister. One day, Elsa accidentally injures Anna with her magic — causing her parents, the King and Queen, to take precautions. When they return to the castle, the sisters are locked away from the public, with Elsa told that she must learn how to control her powers or otherwise great danger could emerge. As teenagers, their parents die from a storm at sea. While the coronation itself goes well, things start to unravel during the celebrations when Anna announces to Elsa that she has fallen in love at first sight with Prince Hans of the Southern Isles Santino Fontana.
Elsa objects to their sudden engagement, and the emotional distress causes her to accidentally unleash her powers — propelling Arendelle into an eternal winter. Scared, Elsa flees the kingdom, leaving the citizens trapped. Frozen is a great metaphor for how unhealthy it is to repress our emotions. Women in particular are often taught from a young age that anger is not for us. While Elsa tries to push her feelings aside, Frozen confirms that you cannot run away from your problems.
Repressing your emotions not only harms yourself, but it harms those around you. Traditional narrative conclusions typically see men as our saviour in a brave act of true love, but Frozen updates this tired narrative — true love can refer to the love we have for our family and friends. By finally allowing herself to feel, the princess saves herself in this one. Frozen shows us that Elsa is not a monster for having feelings and expressing them — nor is she a monster for not knowing how to deal with these emotions in the first place.
It sends the message that you should never isolate yourself from love, nor should you fear hurting others for having normal emotions. Repression cultivates emotional distress — distress which builds up to be even more painful to contain.

A cartoon, Inside Out, which was a worldwide success, is an example of the current educational model: a life totally driven by passions. With all that history to consider, Turning Red might seem like a more minor project from the studio, given that it takes place in the real world, focuses on one small family, and has a very common animation trope at its center: the protagonist turning into an animal. But overlook Turning Red at your peril. Being a child, specifically — one confronting the confounding barrage of emotions that comes with pre-adolescence. So she plots a revolt. The surreal brain landscape a film studio for dreams, an island of personality and the voice actors Amy Poehler plays Joy, Mindy Kaling is Disgust keep the concept from tripping over itself; true to emotional form, this little film is joyful and sad and fearful all at once. Surprise: they mostly loved it. Though defiantly unscientific, Inside Out, it turns out, is filled with genuine insight on child emotional development. You can be happy and afraid.

Among the wholesome, uplifting stories and life lessons Disney movies have imparted onto audiences over the years, there are numerous emotional moments that fans will never forget. While many Disney movies have sad scenes to up the stakes or an elevated sense of emotion to certain storylines, it doesn't always mean the entire movie is inherently sad. Inside Out still adheres to this tried-and-true formula, but shakes it up enough to be interesting. The movie is set in the modern world, and the present day which makes Riley and her struggles all the more relatable. Riley loves ice hockey, goofing around, and hanging out with her friends. It features the twisting passageways of Long Term Memory, and the Train of Thought that moves ideas around.

Now along comes Pixar with an adventure that embraces sadness and doubt. Inside Out , the new film from Pixar , is a dream for children, a delight for parents and a nightmare for the critics sent to deconstruct it. How do you explain the inner workings of a movie that purports to be all inner workings; that lifts the bonnet to reveal the engine? Deliberately, audaciously, Inside Out sets out to show the cognitive wheels turning. It makes the girl into the stage and casts her emotions as the heroes.

Docter conceived Inside Out in late after noticing changes in his daughter's personality as she grew older, and it was subsequently green-lit. Based on the remembrances of Docter and the film's writer and director Ronnie del Carmen , they adopted an idea involving emotions for the film.
