A Tekken anime series was announced on 19th March for Netflix. This is the official description from Netflix themselves:. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever.

Despite their peaceful life, they were ambushed by the monster, Ogre. Jin tried to help his mother fight the monster but was knocked unconscious. When he awoke, his mother and the monster were gone. He assumed the worst and sought out his grandfather, Heihachi. Heihachi took his grandson under his wind, trained him and at 19, announced the third King of Iron Fist Tournament.
Jin entered, hoping to avenge his dead mother , only to be betrayed by his grandfather by killing him. Little did Heihachi know that he shared the same blood curse that his father did — the Devil Gene. Jin transformed, attacked Heihachi and left him to go into hiding. It is a story that most Tekken fans know as it was a focus point from Tekken 4 onwards. There have been previous films that have retold this story, so we have already have the game story as well as other media forms of the story.
Tekken is not short of tragic stories nor characters. I understand that Tekken focuses on the Mishima family and their stories, however there are other characters with great stories: Nina Williams is one that comes to mind. I would like to see these stories too. Another detail is that the trailer shows a character who was not in Tekken 3 — Leroy Smith.
In all fairness, he has become a popular character , so I understand why Netflix have added him into the mix but it puts a little niggle of fear in me that Netflix may stray from the main story and may tell it their own way , so to speak. This has not bode well for the 2 Tekken live-action movies.
I hope that I am proven wrong. However, I feel my enjoyment and knowledge of Tekken is a double-edged sword when it comes to media adaptions of this video game. While Dragon Ball Z games are not bad , this is a game that is much needed and wanted. It looks like the show and has a long list of great characters:. It first premiered in August and we had to wait another 4 years for season 2. Thankfully, season 3 will take around a year later. When I heard that there would be heavy focus on mental health in a video game , I was highly doubtful due to previous portrayals of mental health in video games — most characters end up being perceived as crazy and as the villain , which is pretty upsetting.

I had never read the books and only watched the series for the first time last year , but I jumped on the fan train and really enjoyed it. We also meet Taki Tachibana , a boy who works part time and has a crush on one of his coworkers, Miki Okudera. Mitsuha — dissatisfied living in a rural mountain town Itomori and embarassed by her family tradition of kuchikamizake the making and fermenting of sake by chewing it , she wishes to become a handsome boy in her next life. She and Taki begin body swapping a few times a week , leaving eachother journals of what they have done while helping eachother with their respective problems.
Then one day, they no longer body swap. Despite Taki trying to contact Mistuha, all evidence of their interactions disappear. In fear of losing all of his memories about her , he travels to Itomori from Tokyo, bearing in mind to find her, only to find that a comet killed the entire village three years ago.
Taki manages to find the sake Mistuha made before she died, drinks it and manages to body swap again. Their first meeting is cut short, but Mistuha — with the help of her friends Tessie and Sayaka — come up with a plan to save the people. You do not know if the plan worked a s Taki watched the comet fly past in Tokyo , however they meet again as Taki has a job interview, presumably a few years later , despite not remembering eachother.
So, there is a bit of fantasy mixed in there, but I suppose because the comet is never really mentioned in the synopsis of the movie at any point, the film seems like a teenage, body swapping, romance story that has been told a few times at this point.
With the story also cutting back at forth to the future and the past , it never gets dull. There are some great themes too: suspense ; growing up ; romance. There is no scene that is not fully animated aka, Seraph of the End or Yuri on Ice stills that are pretty derpy. You can tell a lot of skill and love went into making t his film look as beautiful as it should. Had it been live-action which there be in Hollywood with J.
This movie was produced by the CoMix Wave Films studio , who are well known for their beautiful scenery and crisp-clear animation sadly, I have not watched any of their other work, so I cannot compare. I may not understand all the words , but I understand the feelings that come across in these songs — what love is truly about. Sadly, this is where the film is let down a little bit.
I think because so much was going on , there was no real time to bond with the characters, especially Taki and Mistuha. Mitsuha is the typical-misunderstood-but-trying-to-do-her-best type of girl , while Taki is the happy-but-shy-knows-what-he-wants kind of boy. The characters are good , but they are not the strongest point of the film. Yes, I have pointed out that some of the romance aspects and the characters are a bit of a let down for me, but I still think this is the best non-Ghibli animated film I have ever watched.
Skinkai himself stated that the film is far from perfect and believes that it would have been better with more time and a large budget , which I agree to a certain extent with. This film is only minutes , in which to tell such a large-scale story as this in is not a lot of time.
Had the film been longer , then maybe my issues of character development and romance aspects would be ironed out. Your Name is a film about falling in love in the most unexpected places and doing your best to make sure no dream — or bond — dies without a fight.

My friend had actually bought it for me as a birthday present so with nothing new to watch, I decided to give it a go with not really knowing much of the story.
After watching the first two episodes, I updated my MyAnimeList page and scrolled through the reviews — they were mostly OK, but one really struck me. One review commented on how the first episode of Seraph of the End was a copy of the first episode of Attack on Titan. I immediately disagreed — they were similar , yes , but not the same.
I will say this before we go any further — I really enjoyed both animes, however I do prefer AOT over Seraph , and I will explain those reasons in the following way:. Hopefully I can explain it more throughout this article.
Attack on Titan follows Eren Yeager — the son of a doctor who is stuck inside high walls to keep out the Titans — large humanoid creatures who eat people. Why they do this is unknown, but they nearly wiped out the entire human race. Eren escapes with his adopted sister Mikasa and best friend Armin further into the walls.

Sup dog I heard you like moe girls, so we put moe girls in your moe anime about high school boys. What is really going on? Random stuff I say. This insane episode starts with Mitsuo going through some emotional stuff, but what is really wrong with this soccer wannabe player?! Probably depressed thanks to his friends picking on him…he should go Accelerator on them but Hidenori and Yoshitake are there to cheer him up. However, their version of cheering someone up is to basically kick their ass…though, they had their reason with that porn stash. Next up! Hidenori and Yoshitake discuss the finer details about manga stories; basically Hidenori wants Yoshitake to critic his manga and give him some helpful advice.
