Alice is named after a real-life Alice — the year-old daughter of the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University Alice Liddell, who heard, along with her two sisters, the very first version of the tale during a boat trip on the Thames, and begged Carroll to write it down. There are even diseases named after the book: Alice In Wonderland syndrome AWS , where sufferers perceive parts of their body to be changing size, and Alice In Wonderland-like syndrome AWLS , where people misperceive the size and distance of objects around them. Lewis Carroll himself suffered from these diseases, but it took until for English psychiatrist John Todd to discover the disease and give it its memorable name. It was written by Carroll, who insisted there was no answer.

As the script includes a lot of pure nonsense and often it's not possible to predict what the conversation is about or the actual made-up terms are spelled, it is very difficult to follow without subtitles. I wonder whether this is even easy to follow for a kid. One person found this helpful. Both audio and video dropped out or halted throughout this "pay-to-view" movie. Had to restart it and also use rewind and F-Forward to find places where it would play.

The Disney film Alice in Wonderland has been planned out since the s as the first-ever animated film by Disney. Ultimately, the film was not released until the year Walt Disney ultimately turned the draft down, as the denizens of Wonderland looked far too monstrous for his tastes and were hard to animate, as they resembled the Tenniel illustrations too closely.
