Tell your friends! They seem to have a lot of birthdays in Adventure Time. Like their snappy, too-fast-for-thought banter, things move pretty fast in this episode. We get a monster, a woman who does not need defending, and a secret origin! Margaret is super-pregnant and Joshua is trying to keep her from dangerous situations. But they are monster hunters, and danger comes with the job. So he picks the least dangerous job he can find; stolen pies.
Because she can; and more than likely, better than you. And so it is with Margaret. She did it all this episode and saved her husband in the process. Among the many things I adore about Adventure Time is the abundance of really strong female characters. Well, sometimes they do. But, for the most part, they are treated as three-dimensional characters with strengths and flaws. A little girl can watch Adventure Time and see herself in the characters without compromise.
Little boys can watch it and see that girls are just like them. Just as important and unique as them.
Grown-ups can watch Adventure Time and not worry about their kids getting a gender-biased experience. Since I have kids, my potty-mouth see? After the mystery is solved, Joshua and Margaret encounter the real monster: A Shape-Shifter who bites Joshua on the head.
Again, in that film noir-inspired dialogue, Joshua decrees that Margaret should kill him before he becomes a monster himself. The fight with the Shape-Shifter was spectacular! While battling birth pangs, Margaret conquers the creature after he transforms into a baby in an attempt to play on her maternal instincts.
No good. She socks him in the jaw and gets that venom! And in a disturbing twist, the Shape-Shifter then transports itself back to its home dimension after an evil chuckle. Meanwhile, back at their office, Joshua is experiencing his own torture as the lump on his head gets even bigger. This show never fails to surprise me. Home Reviews. Currently available for streaming on HBO Max alongside its sequel miniseries, Adventure Time: Distant Lands , the Pendleton Ward -created show paved the way for many other critically and commercially acclaimed animated series that the network would release in the following years, from Steven Universe to Over the Garden Wall. A contemporary animated classic if there ever was one, Adventure Time is fondly remembered by fans for its intricate storylines and its unique portrayal of a post-apocalyptic Earth, in which magic and science meet to create wonders and horrors beyond our imagination. It is also remembered for having some of the greatest love stories in recent animated history, with couples like Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, and Simon and Betty. Some were on-screen for just one or two episodes, while others had journeys that lasted through the entire series. Some are aspirational and heartwarming, while others are marked by tragedy. Last week, I briefly touched on how I think Adventure Time has some of the best-written dialogue on television. I think this latest episode more than proved my point, and then some. The result is one solid gold line after another, more in one minute block of time than some series have in whole seasons. And all of it is delivered complete with Golden Age Hollywood-throwback Transatlantic accents by Maria Bamford and Kent Osbourne, who utterly dominate this episode. A birthday celebration leads Jake to reminisce about his birth, providing an excuse for us to finally see the old duo in action. Who dances a greeting like Michigan J. Frog before falling asleep. If anyone called that, then please let me know, because I want to become their apprentice and learn their ways.
Adventure Time: Elements
After receiving training from his true father Warren Ampersand, Jake can now change to a blue color and in this state, his powers are even more advanced. He was able to grow a pair of wings which allowed him to take flight. The show is rooted in fantasy and absurdity, which is fun for older kids and tweens who can get the references and irony and separate it from reality.

In early February , just a few months after Cartoon Network notified the team behind its most surprising breakout hit that the show was canceled, the cast finished their last round of voice work. The final episodes were written, and the saga of Finn and Jake in the magical, post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo came to a close as the cast and crew scattered to new projects. The fruits of their labor will gradually unfurl on Cartoon Network until — although the timing remains uncertain. Fans must wait for the slow march to the finale, but the creative team is moving on. Not its reclusive creator, Pendleton Ward, who left his top job on the show two years ago, and certainly not Cartoon Network, which never knew quite how to handle its success.
