While Chuck Jones himself was a good and iconic cartoon director, and most of his Looney Tunes work received positive critical and audience acclaim, however most of his earliest Looney Tunes work from to mid on the other hand aren't remembered fondly by fans, critics or animation buffs, with criticism being targeted at they trying too hard to copy Disney's cutesy formula of the time and severely lacked the hilarious humor and zany wackiness of all the other cartoons produced by other directors of the time such as Tex Avery and Bob Clampett and to some extent, Friz Freleng when he returned to Warner Bros. He even regretted having produced "Elmer's Candid Camera", which Jones himself referred that cartoon as "a textbook example of how not to create a cartoon". Jones said the following about "Elmer's Candid Camera": "In that cartoon we find Bugs stumbling, fumbling, and mumbling around, vainly seeking a personality on which to hang his dialogue and action, or— in better words than mine—"walking around with his umbilical in his hand, looking for someplace to plug it in. It would be complimentary to call it sluggish.

Was Looney Tunes meant for adults?
Less popular with the other directors, who found him too wimpy. He also had an earlier, less distinctive prototype named Egghead, who was sometimes referred to as Elmer. Elmer Fudd was one of very few characters in the classic Looney Tunes era that was not voiced by the immortal Mel Blanc. There were a few scattered exceptions, but for almost all of the character's appearances, he was voiced by an actor named Arthur Q. After Bryan died in , Hal Smith voiced Elmer in two shorts, but the character was soon retired.

In this special short made to promote the series, Elmer Fudd is in pursuit of Bugs Bunny once again, however Bugs turns the table with the help of dynamite. Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are inside a rainforest temple looking for a cursed bounty, a planet deflates as Marvin Martian attempts to conquer it, and Bugs Bunny is challenged to an arm wrestling match by Yosemite Sam. Evil scientist Dr Moron unleashes Gossamer to get rid of Bugs when he invites himself to their castle to watch a baseball game one stormy night. Sylvester Pussycat attempts to catch Tweety Bird when Granny Webster goes out to get eggs, Elmer Fudd uses a plunger to try and get Bugs Bunny out of his hole, and Daffy Duck tries to get streetgum out of his feathers.
