Animation and Cartoon Movies in London

Disney fans are living the dream these days, as it seems like the studio announces new live-action remakes of their classic animated films every day. And why wouldn't the entertainment giant take advantage of our nostalgia cravings?

With a catalog full of classic tales like Hercules , Cinderella , and Robin Hood , the film opportunities are there and ready for the making! While we adore the OG animated films that we were practically raised on, there's nothing quite like seeing your favorite princesses or furry friend hiya, Winnie the Pooh, and Piglet! Even though the release dates for some of the newest adaptations were delayed due to COVID shutting down production, it seems like Disney is fully back on track, producing the films that they've promised fans.

And of course, they've given us a whole lineup of remakes to look forward to this year and next, with Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid , and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on deck starring young celebs like Rachel Zegler and Halle Bailey. Ahead, find all of the deets on every Disney live-action remake movie — past, present, and future. Snow White was Disney's first animated feature film. It kicked off their insanely successful princess franchise, which is why it's surprising it took Disney so long to green-light a live-action version!

The movie doesn't have a release date just yet, but its titular character is someone familiar. The film's production began in The Dalmatians' fur-loving villain got her own solo movie. This adaptation follows Cruella De Vil in her early days. In other words, she got the Maleficent treatment. In the film, we go back to the start and see a younger Cruella as she became a fashion icon and goes down a path to become the Cruella that we all know and love to hate.

The iconic Dalmatians also got their own movie and a sequel back in and respectively. According to IMDb the production team had to train over puppies for the first film. Sounds like a dream job. Barry Jenkins will be sitting in the director's chair for the new sequel, while The Lion King live-action writer, Jeff Nathanson, will write the script, according to Deadline. Casting has yet to be announced, but there's a good chance we'll be seeing our faves from the first film back to reprise their roles.

Not much is known about the reboot for the boy who never grew up , but it did just find its stars. Jude Law has been tapped to play Captain Hook, while Yara Shahidi has been added to the cast as the iconic Tinkerbell.

This film will be directed by David Lowery, the guy behind the epic Pete's Dragon movie. Based on how amazing the dragon CGI was in that movie, Tick-Tock the crocodile is bound to be terrifying. It definitely has some pressure to live up to the other epic live Peter Pan adaptations that came from non-Disney studios, like Hook starring the late Robin Williams and the equally as epic version starring cutie Jeremy Sumpter.

It looks like Zeus is finally making our dreams come true! Disney has officially confirmed that a Hercules live re-make is on its way, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Casting hasn't begun for the film yet, but Shang-Chi screenwriter, Dave Callaham, will be writing the script, and the director of the Aladdin live-action remake, Guy Ritchie, is signed on for this project as well. Although live-action could also be CGI, depending on what Disney wants to do, we're still excited at the possibility of seeing this beloved tale come to life.

According to Variety , Disney is working on a live-action-ish remake of Bambi. The bells are ringing again in Notre Dame! Disney has announced that The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be getting the live-action treatment and they're pulling out all the stops. Disney legends Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz , who also did the music for the original animated film, will be working on the music for the live-action adaptation.

Frozen 's Josh Gad will be producing the film and is rumored to be playing Quasimodo, while Tarzan musical writer David Henry Hwang will be writing the script, according to Deadline. Pinocchio is one of the latest Disney films to get the live-action remake treatment. It's safe to say that with a cast like this, the movie will get you right in the feels just like the original.

Get ready to ride this Hawaiian roller coaster ride! On July 14, Deadline reported that Dean Fleischer Camp, the filmmaker behind the charming indie comedy Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, has stepped into the role of director for the flick.

Casting and release dates haven't been announced yet, but we're definitely excited to see this movie come to life. The remake of this Disney favorite will reportedly feature a mix of your fave songs according to Deadline and new ones from the genius behind the original soundtrack, Alan Menken, and Hamilton scribe, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

A movie about Prince Charming has been talked about for a few years now. But the film would be from the perspective of his brother who never lived up to the family name, according to E! The film has been slow to develop and there's still no release date or much information on it. The film based on the historical figure Hua Mulan and Disney's animated flick of the same name reimages the tale to exclude songs, Mulan's guardian dragon named Mushu, and General Li Shang.

Instead, the film focuses on Mulan's new connections with fellow soldiers and her inner "chi". Speaking of Peter Pan , his iconic fairy sidekick is getting her own origin story, too! It's called Tink and Reese Witherspoon is gonna be sprinkling fairy dust all over it as she's attached to star in the film according to Variety. Watch the Original on Amazon Prime. On the list of best Disney villains, Chernaborg probably won't even make the list for many fans. He was the villain in the final segment of the classic Fantasia and the last character you ever would have guessed would bag himself a live-action reboot.

And yet, the bigwigs over at Disney green-lit a movie in based on Chernaborg and his minute reign of terror over Bald Mountain. Maleficent came back ready for some revenge. Kicking off a couple of years after the first movie ended, Maleficent still isn't happy with how things have worked out for her, and she goes head-to-head with Aurora.

However, something is affecting the entire kingdom, and Maleficent and Aurora must work together in order to protect everything within it. Simba's story remains the most successful traditionally animated movie in history and inspired the third-longest running Broadway musical — so of course it got the live-action treatment. But we might be stretching the definition of 'live-action' considering there are zero humans in the film so it's really more of a CGI film.

After the success of Disney's other animal-centric reboot, The Jungle Book , this movie was fast-tracked to production with the same director, Jon Favreau.

Giving a facelift to the half-animated, half-live-action film Pete's Dragon , the full live-action version showcases stunning CGI details as it tells the tale of a young orphan boy who lives in the woods with his invisible pet dragon. As the movie progresses, we see the child battle against townsfolk who find out his big secret.

Though this version doesn't contain music, it does contain the same charm and heart as the original. Tim Burton's adaptation of Dumbo was just as dark as his previous films.

While the remake isn't as colorful as the original, seeing Dumbo take flight for the first time is absolutely breathtaking and you'll find yourself crying just as hard at this Disney tearjerker.

Disney initially announced a prequel called Genies that would delve into Genie's backstory, but then scrapped the idea in favor of moving forward with the original Aladdin story. Guy Ritchie directed the film and Mena Massoud starred as Aladdin.

While rumors have floated around the internet that Aladdin would be receiving a sequel, no official announcement has been made. Since Disney Channel is a crucial part of the Disney family, the live-action remake of Kim Possible just had to make this list. In this response to the childhood classic Winnie the Pooh , we meet Christopher Robin again as a working-class family man who's lost sight of the joys in life.

When he encounters his childhood friend Winnie-the-Pooh, the toy helps him rediscover happiness, imagination, and his old pals in the Hundred Acre Wood Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga, and Roo. The animated classic about a spoiled Cocker Spaniel who falls in love with a mutt from the wrong side of the tracks named Tramp over a plate of spaghetti and meatballs was turned into a live-action version. If anyone could pull off recreating two dogs slurping spaghetti and getting roped into a kiss in live-action, it's Disney!

Okay, technically this was a live-action movie to begin with, but it doesn't make the fact that it got a reboot any less shocking — especially since you can't imagine how Disney could possibly top the original! Gotta say, it's a pretty epic pairing. Emma Watson stars as Belle in Disney's fairytale adaption which hit theaters on March 17, The movie musical features songs both new and old, with sparkling renditions of "Be Our Guest" and "Gaston".

Emma Watson's singing voice is pretty great but we'll never quite get over the quirk that a young girl named Belle from a small French village has a British accent. When Disney announced this beloved classic was getting the live-action treatment, fans had doubts that the cartoon animals could successfully be brought to life using CGI. The biggest difference between the s original and the remake, starring Lily James and hottie Richard Madden, is that the new release wasn't a musical, which definitely had fans missing out on "Bippity Boppity Boo" or "The Work Song Cinderelly, Cinderelly.

But that didn't stop the movie from being a huge success with gorgeous costumes corsets for everyone! Watch on Amazon Prime.

Maleficent took an unconventional approach to adapting the Disney classic it was based on, Sleeping Beauty, by telling Aurora's familiar story from the side of the iconic villain, Maleficent, played by Angelina Jolie. The twist gave Maleficent something she didn't have in the original movie — a heart. The one that started it all! Disney's first live-action remake told Alice's down-the-rabbit-hole dreamscape with an increased presence of the Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp.

The bright and magical world got a dark and gothic makeover courtesy of legendary director Tim Burton.
