But, really, this film is more "faithful" to the character of the series than that lame movie they did, specifically, for American audiences. There story that is here is largely unimportant, clearly, it's just about the next sight gags. To be honest a lot of these gags feel like stuff they left off the series because they just didn't get around to it, that's not to say they aren't funny because the film, surprisingly, gets better as it goes on. I say surprisingly because a lot of the gags, at first, don't really work at all but they start clicking better as the movie goes along.
They aren't particularly memorable but I did like Bean being stuck in an outhouse, and somehow ripping it off, and moving it with him still stuck. Really it is silly humor and some of the gags are ripped off the TV series.

Bean, you either love him or you hate him. Bean, that is. I have been a fan of Rowan Atkinson for years, long before Bean made it to the big screen ten years ago. Bean story. He charges away, without knowing a lick of French, and heads off on holiday.

The hapless Bean wanders from misfortune to misfortune entangling all who unwittingly cross his path. If you recognize Mr. Bean , the eccentric man who drives around in a yellow British Leyland Mini and brainstorms ridiculous tactics for overcoming everyday challenges, then you recognize Rowan Atkinson. Atkinson started out worlds away from comedy, working on his doctorate in Electrical Engineering, but detoured from this career path when he discovered his passion for acting. Bean series. He's even called Bean "a self-centered, narcissistic anarchist ," so it makes sense that Atkinson decided to retire the character in His characters in Blackadder , Johnny English , and Mr. Bean are all self-centered and think highly of themselves.
Bean is like a malevolent Ace Ventura in slow motion. Remember the cartoon character who went everywhere with the dark rain cloud hovering over his head? For everyone he meets, Bean is that cloud. Since so many slapstick heroes are relentlessly cheerful or harmless, his troublesome streak is sort of welcome.
