Watching anime allows you to compare and contrast Japanese culture with, in my case, American culture. In particular, when you compare both American and Japanese of comedy, you start to see patterns.

A lot of American comedy lies in social critiques. Its humor can be intellectual to low comedy. The Story: A dirty magazine lies in the road. What do you do? Do you A sniff it? Or B eat it? He suffers from a curse called Absolute Choices, a phenomenon that forces him to make a decision between two random options. Of course, not only does he have no control over the options or when he has to choose, the choices are often perverted or socially inappropriate.

One day, while walking home from school, Kanade is forced to make a choice again. And is squashed by a girl falling from the sky. At long last, Kanade has a chance to make his curse fade completely. He simply has to complete some missions to succeed.

But of course, hilarity ensues. However, there is direction. Noucome is divided up into little arcs, each revolving around the missions Kanade has to complete, those highlighting different girls. Noucome keeps itself light-hearted that way. In other words, fanservice. But 10 is too short. The show is simply too short for any meaningful character development, with one exception.

Despite his curse, he is actually an uninteresting character, instead milked for comedic effect. He is not interesting, but he helps to make the characters around him all girls more interesting than him. Furano Yukihira: Yukihira is character development done right. Out of everyone, she gets the most meaningful development and the story does a good job taking advantage of it.

Ouka Yuouji: To contrast the brilliance that is Yukihira, we have Yuouji. She gets development halfway through, then conveniently decides to neglect it. Final Verdict: Noucome is a good example of the difference between an enjoyable anime and a good one.

This anime revolves around Kanade Amakusa, a high school student suffering from a curse put on him. The strange behavior caused by the curse has earned him a strange reputation with his classmates. The two work together to rid Kanade of the curse and return his life to normal. This is a light-hearted fun anime. Nothing fancy or life altering about it, but an enjoyable feel good comedy nonetheless. If you are looking for a serious anime this is not the anime for you. The series is only 10 episodes long, so I recommend enjoying it in moderation. Most of the comedy comes from the odd situations Kanade is put in due to the curse. Imagine being in a large group of people and having to either howl like a dog for 3 minutes or roll on the ground screaming for 5 minutes.

Chocolat He proposes to Chocolat at the end of the series. In episode 10, it is confirmed that even without her memories Chocolat has developed strong romantic feelings for him and is revealed to be jealous of the other girls. She later confessed her affections to him, as Kanade reacted in shock at this especially when she described how deep they were. Throughout the series, it is heavily hinted that she has romantic feelings for Kanade. Constantly calling him names and more often than not insulting him, Kanade is usually put off by this but tolerates her weird antics, but they remain in a friendly relationship. Chocolat is a very persistent girl, especially when it comes to people she cares for.

Kanade is a fairly tall, slender man, with long, shaggy black hair with a tint of purple and, as stated by Furano , he has pale skin. He is also considered as handsome by a lot of girls in some of the episodes. Kanade is known in his school for being a perverted weirdo.

Kanade Amakusa is a high school boy that suffers from Absolute Choices. This is a condition where a person has to select from choices that appear before him. They are often perverse and really weird. One day, a girl falls from the sky to help Kanade reverse the curse. He ends up needing to complete different missions, but if he fails one Kanade is stuck with Absolute Choices forever.

In continuing with the Toxic trend of ranting about characters that bring down otherwise great shows, I am now going to now rant about Yukihira Furano. I hope you will forgive the long post title but given the long anime title, I think it is quite apt. I want to start by clarifying that NouKome or NouCome if you prefer is one of my favorite anime this season. It is funny, touching at times and generally well put together. Though I will admit that my fondness for this anime might stem from the fact that I am not actually watching much good anime this season…. I am quite fond of most of the other characters too.
