Twenty years ago, Edo-period Japan suffered a great cultural shock—the aliens called Amanto invaded the Earth, overpowered the nation's government, and outlawed the carrying of swords by the once proud samurai. Moreover, the aliens took the people's jobs and are currently running Japan as a sweatshop using the natives as laborers. In this strange new era are Gintoki Sakata, an eccentric samurai whose personal trademarks are his naturally permed silver hair, his love of anything sweet, and his addiction to Shonen Jump; Shinpachi Shimura, the teenaged heir of the Kakido-Ryu style; and Kagura, an incredibly strong alien girl from the powerful Yato clan. The trio are self-employed in an odd jobs shop called Yoruzuya Gin-chan, which offers to do almost anything for a price, from finding lost kittens to saving the world. Unfortunately, the jobs rarely go as planned, or pay enough to cover the pain and suffering the employees encounter—never mind their rent. The first two seasons of the Gintama series were initially licensed by Sentai Filmworks , which released the first season across 4 volumes from April 27, to February 22,

Gintama: The Very Final has revealed the English dub cast for the anime's final movie outing! Hideaki Sorachi's original manga series might have finally come to an end sometime ago after some hilarious fake-out ending gags, of course , but the franchise got to celebrate with one more major goodbye in the form of a special feature film outing. This final movie opened in Japan earlier this year and was so successful that it even managed to top Demon Slayer: Mugen Train's box office takeover for a short time. Now it's heading to North America! Eleven Arts previously confirmed that they have licensed the film for an official English release, and are preparing to screen it in theaters later this Fall. Before it hits everywhere else, the English dub version of the movie will be debuting at New York Comic Con on October 9th for the select fans in attendance.

Since then, the Yorozuya have gone their separate ways. Foreseeing Utsuro's return, Gintoki Sakata begins surveying Earth's ley lines for traces of the other man's Altana. The Amanto, aliens from outer space, have invaded Earth and taken over feudal Japan. As a result, a prohibition on swords has been established, and the samurai of Japan are treated with disregard as a consequence. However one man, Gintoki Sakata, still possesses the heart of the samurai, although from his love of sweets and work as a yorozuya, one might not expect it.

According to Crunchyroll , Eleven Arts Pictures' conclusion to the anime series will hit the big screen on Nov. The film will screen in English dubbed form and in the original Japanese with English subtitles. Written and illustrated by Sorachi, Gin Tama follows freelancing samurai Gintoki Sakata as he takes on one-off tasks to pay his rent in an alien-conquered Japan. Gintoki and his Yorozuya friends or rather, employees suffering under labor violations , Shinpachi and Kagura, continue to scrape by in the futuristic, alien-infested city of Edo. They take on whatever work they can find while trying not to get involved in anything too dangerous. But when Katsura, the leader of the Joui rebels and Gintoki's long-time acquaintance, disappears after being brutally attacked by an unknown assassin, Shinpachi and Kagura begin an investigation into his whereabouts and the identity of the assailant.
