The Beatles had successfully made the transition from recording studio to silver screen, so why couldn't Kiss similarly make its mark in a made-for-TV movie? The Beatles were actually first immortalized in animated glory a few years before climbing aboard that famous yellow submarine.
They shared their music — but not their actual speaking voices — on a minute Saturday morning cartoon that debuted on Sept. The Beatles used their songs to frame the individual episodes, each of which centered on the completely made-up and fanciful adventures of the lads from Liverpool. It was an instant ratings smash for ABC. Airing from until in its original run, and through in reruns, the show lasted for 39 total episodes that reportedly marked the first time an animated series had portrayed real, living people.
The Fab Four hated the show at first, according to the book Beatletoons: The Real Story Behind the Cartoon Beatles , but later embraced its campy portrayal of the period when they still sported mop tops and suits. Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits Limited Edition 2LP
In a recent episode of Disney XD's Star vs. The multiple makeout sessions marked the first time Disney has ever shown same-sex cartoon characters kissing, making history for the channel. In "Just Friends," Season 2, episode 39, of the show, the main characters go to a concert where a boy band is crooning on stage. The tunes are so seductive, the boy band woos everyone in the crowd, making the atmosphere so romantic everyone just had to kiss - as boy bands are wont to do. In the crowd, a bunch of different kissing couples are shown, including a few same-sex couples. While we've seen actors and actresses engage in same-sex kisses on screen, it is definitely significant that this is the first time a cartoon is showing it, particularly because young people are the show's main audience. The more we show same sex couples kissing, the more young people will recognize that it's a normal thing that happens in life — not something strange or perverse that should be feared.

Thankfully there have been some family-friendly cartoons that have come out recently with soundtracks good you won't mind hearing it over and over again. The animation during the songs is really well done and it's the right amount of campy. It's full of Kiss easter eggs too. Gnomeo and Juliet - Loosely based on the Shakespeare play, we're giving a look at what a day in the life of a garden gnome might be like. Beat Bugs - This Netflix exclusive is a huge hit in my house. Both girls love The Beatles, I mean they named our dog Lucy, so this cartoon series is a must-see for any other Beatles fan too. Every episode is based off on a different Beatles song with some really cool guests leading their vocals. The Beat Bugs are also full of easter eggs for the perceptive super fans.
