Zoey Brooks is making history by being one of the first girls to attend Pacific Coast Academy, an elite former all-boys boarding school.
Zoey is an independent and outgoing year-old, who is out to leave her mark on PCA. Zoey Brooks and her brother, Dustin, are heading to their first day at Pacific Coast Academy, a private boarding school that is allowing females to enroll for the first time in its history.
As Zoey gets acquainted with her new surroundings, she decides to try out for the boys' basketball team, a decision that is met with opposition from a boy named Logan.
Zoey challenges Logan to a five-on-five, boys-versus-girls basketball game, which the boys dominate until Zoey's gruff roommate Dana Zoey's roommates, Dana and Nicole, constantly fight, so Zoey moves into a different room with a girl named Quinn who turns out to be far stranger than either of them.
But Nicole and Dana seem happier since Zoey's departure, and she doesn't want to hurt Quinn's feelings, so she pretends to be perfectly content with her new living situation. But when Quinn unexpectedly asks Zoey to move out, Zoey returns to her old room with Dana and Nicole, where they learn to better appreciate one another and how to compromise and co-exist. Dustin is concerned that Zoey is mothering him too much, and when a school bully forces Dustin to do his homework for him, Zoey confronts the bully in public, embarrassing Dustin in the process and further enraging the bully.
When Dustin comes to Chase and Michael for advice on the subject, they tell him to stick up for himself, which prompts Dustin to challenge the bully to a fight. Zoey gets wind of the fight and instead of intervening directly, orchestrates a ruse whereby the janitor poses as a dean in order to threaten the school bully with disciplinary action.
The next time Dustin stands up for himself, the bully backs down, and Zoey is satisfied knowing she helped, even if Dustin is none the wiser. An announcement is made that the school play at PCA will be based on Chase's original script, so he is offered the male lead and casts Zoey opposite him, as his love interest. But when Logan comes in to read and is clearly better than everyone else, Chase is left no choice but to award him the lead role.
At first, Zoey is hesitant to work with Logan and plans on quitting, until she sees him in action and immediately becomes smitten. Chase tries to sabotage Logan by getting him to catch Dustin's cold, but the plan backfires and Chase is sequestered in the infirmary on opening night. Meanwhile as the play unfolds, Logan's true colors are revealed, allowing Zoey to see him for the jerk he really is.
Logan offers the girls a peace offering in the form of a stuffed animal, which turns out to be imbedded with a webcam that he uses to spy on them in their lounge. When the girls finally realize how their secrets are being disseminated throughout campus, they devise a plan to incriminate Logan using the help of the other boys and the owner of a campus sushi restaurant.
As a project for Business Class, the kids are instructed to break into small groups and shoot commercials for a new scooter on the market called the Jet X. Nicole, Zoey and Dana can't agree on how to approach their project, so they end up defecting into solo projects that all go very poorly. Meanwhile, Logan uses his father's connections to acquire professional equipment and the services of Jeff Garrett, celebrity spokesperson, for the boys' commercial.
Zoey, Dana and Nicole sign up for the Spring Fling planning committee in hopes of getting Drake Bell to perform at the festivities and consequently turn a formerly lame tradition into a new, exciting event.
When it turns out that Drake comes with a five thousand dollar price tag, the girls decide to have a fundraiser in order to drum up some cash.
When the boys TP the girls' dorm and bombard them with water balloons as part of the PCA tradition of "prank week," the girls devise a plan to get even which consists of defacing the statue in front of the boys' dorm. As it turns out, the son of the founder of PCA is on hand to witness the vandalism of his father's statue, and in a fit of rage, he decides it was a mistake to let girls into PCA.
When Zoey takes sole blame for the prank, the founder's son allows the other girls to stay, provided that Zoey accepts her expulsion and issues an apology to the entire student body. Quinn develops a crush on a boy named Mark, but when Zoey finds out that Mark's not interested, she decides to take it upon herself to organize a fake "date" between the two oblivious parties. She tells Quinn that Mark accepted the invitation and tricks Mark into showing up.
When Mark's girlfriend also shows up, Zoey's plan is foiled, but Quinn and Mark end up embroiled in a burgeoning romance despite it all.
Stacy, an employee at the PCA bookstore, steals Zoey's backpack prototype, and the whole school gets backpack fever, leaving Stacy to reap all the benefits. When a major department store becomes involved, Zoey is determined to beat Stacy at her own game and take back what is rightfully hers. When the PCA school dance committee implements an experimental new personality-based partner selection process, Zoey - through some seemingly technological glitch - is paired up with two boys, Chase and Glen, of which she chooses Glen to be her date at the dance.
While at the dance all the kids struggle to deal with their assigned matches, and it is eventually revealed that Chase and Glen both used dishonest means to get Zoey's personality test answers in order to insure being paired with her.
In an attempt to get out of gym class, the kids expose a loophole in PCA policy and form a Frisbee Golf team, but the rules stipulate that in order for the team to be official, they have to compete in and win at least one sanctioned event.
Chase's plan to schedule a game with an easy opponent backfires, however, when he inadvertently books a team of juvenile delinquent Frisbee Golfers from Ridgeway Youth Detention Facility. It's the end of the semester and the entire student body is looking forward to the celebratory party at a nearby beach, but when one of Quinn's inventions goes awry, the kids find themselves four hours away from their intended destination at another beach altogether.
While stranded on this empty, abandoned beach, the kids decide to make the most of their situation until they are finally able to contact help in the form of Mr. Bender and his trusty pick-up truck. The summer is over, and school is back in session at PCA!
That means new classes, new dorms, and new roommates? Such is the case for Zoey and Nicole, who meet their new roommate Lola, perhaps the strangest person either Zoey or Nicole have ever met. Over on the guy's end, Logan goes completely overboard on the entertainment system for his new dorm room, causing Michael and Chase to have to camp outside. Welcome back to PCA. But when Zoey reveals to Chase that she's making a video diary to be buried with the capsule, Chase becomes obsessed over what she says about him.
With Logan tormenting him to dig up the time capsule and steal the DVD, Chase finds himself strapped into a rollercoaster ride of morals and ethics. As a joke, Chase and Zoey nominate each other to run for class president, even though neither one really wants to win. They decide to just have fun with it, and not let the election get in the way of their friendship. But as the campaign trail heats up, Logan decides to take over as manager for Chase's presidential bid.
Needless to say, he's ready to play dirty, and Chase and Zoey discover that politics and friendship mix together like oil and water. A new girl has a crush on Zoey's little brother Dustin. The catch? She's had a few run ins with the law. Zoey begs Chase to step in, and break the young couple up.
Chase succeeds, but only because this bad girl now has a crush on him! Now, instead of being an innocent bystander, Chase finds himself right in the middle of a lover's quarrel he wanted nothing to do with in the first place. How will he ever find his way out of this one? After becoming sick and tired of hearing how smart a group of science nerds think they are, Zoey decides to wage a war. A Robot War! Only problem? Zoey and the crew don't know the first thing when it comes to creating a robot.
They recruit Quinn, who has her own score to settle the nerds, to help them. But when she overhears Logan making fun of her behind her back, she bails on the project, leaving the group hung out to dry. Zoey has a few tricks up her sleeve though, and she's going to show those nerds that all is fair in Robots and War. Every Halloween at PCA, the upper school makes a haunted house for the lower school, and this year Logan is in charge.
He makes a promise to everyone that his haunted house will be so terrifying, that people won't just be scared, they'll cry. But when Zoey's little brother and his roommate get lost in the house, Logan starts to wonder if something not of this world has taken over his creation.
Chase and Logan's internet webcast show becomes the hit of PCA when Zoey and Logan break into an on-air battle of the sexes argument. But can these two opposites keep up the act for the good of the show before driving each other crazy?
Zoey and Chase are forced to address their relationship when Lola develops a crush on Chase. Lola's not sure whether or not she should ask him out because of Zoey, and Chase isn't comfortable going out with Lola because of Zoey. And on top of that, Zoey doesn't know what Zoey wants. Logan decides as a joke to buy Zoey, Lola, and Nicole and make them his personal cheerleaders.
But his plan backfires when the girls decide to make his dream of cheerleaders a nightmare in reality. Quinn hears from her parents that her pet Alpaca is depressed because he misses Quinn.
In the meantime, the guys hold a contest to see who can go the longest without saying the letter "s", and in doing so, they drive the entire campus crazy.
The guys are upset that Zoey, Nicole, and Lola are hanging out on the rooftop of their dorm. They want to keep it "guys only" and private. Furious with this, the girls decide to prove that guys can still act like guys around girls. They hatch a plan to disguise Lola as a boy, and blend in as "just one of the guys. A week of a fun-in-the-sun, at Logan's father's mansion. This diversion however soon takes an unexpected turn when the gang realizes they are going to test a new game show Logan's Father is making for MTV, called "Gender Defenders".
It pits the boys against the girls in a variety of challenges and the winning team will get to be on the real taping of the show. But when Chase accidentally sends a message proclaiming his true feelings for Zoey, will this Spring Break prove to be a Spring Bummer?
Also, Chase has something to tell Zoey. Lola and Quinn predict that Chase is going to profess his love, but the truth is, that Chase has a bigger secret. Meanwhile, it looks like Logan and Michael just might fight to the finish to get the top bunk this year. Chase's girlfriend seems really sweet but does she have something to say to Zoey? Meanwhile, Quinn helps Logan with his basketball skills. A new hot dean fills in for Dean Rivers. Meanwhile, the girls' Resident Advisor Coco has just been dumped by her boyfriend, Carl.
Is there a potential love match between Coco and the new dean? Zoey is sure to find out. Zoey's date plans are put on hold when Quinn unleashes a germ in their room. Meanwhile, Quinn is having her own love problems. She's convinced that her boyfriend Mark is cheating on her, but she'll have to wait to get out of quarantine to know for sure.
Zoey's having trouble in Chemistry and needs a tutor. Her teacher recommends getting help from the student with the best grades in the class. Zoey's in shock when she finds out who it is.

Zoey premiered on Nickelodeon 17 years ago, turning a certain pop star's little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears , into a sitcom darling and serving as an early stepping stone for all sorts of future famous names who had bit parts, including Ashley Benson , Harry Shum Jr. Though the series lasted for only four seasons, the nostalgia runs deep with this one, and fans were overjoyed when the cast reunited to shoot a sketch for the reboot of All That and then gathered in to make a video for a new recording of the show's theme song, "Follow Me Zoey News of the All That project, the first time many of them had seen each other in years. To '90s kids, Nickelodeon will always be known for hosting some of the most memorable and original animated kid's shows, which include Rugrats , Invader Zim , and SpongeBob SquarePants. Kids from the s era, however, while still enjoying many of the new and original cartoons, were introduced to an entirely new genre of Nick shows: live-action comedies. These two shows have gained a cult following over the years, resulting in a stanch fanbase for both. But among even these dedicated fans, an internal argument still lingers. Which show was better?
