Bakemonogatari real life

The anime under the Monogatari series are an interesting bunch, to say the least. Thanks to its sharp dialogue, out-there premise, and its even more out-there visuals, there's a lot to like of this anime series, but it can also be a bit confusing at times. While some of that confusion can be intentional, given Monogatari's surreal nature, sometimes there are things about the anime and its world that leave viewers scratching their heads. In this world where the supernatural is one hundred percent real, there are some questions and concepts that don't have a lot of answers to them or are never explained.

Bakemonogatari (TV)

Not everything is how it seems. There are layers upon layers of human thought that can be sifted through and explored in and of yourself that, as a young man, I refused to do. I instead took everything at face value and, in all honesty; it was a boring way to live. I now like to imagine that all things are possible, both the physical and metaphysical. Why believe in one deity when you can believe in them all? Why only try to understand one system of belief when you can try to understand many?

Ghosts are real. Aliens are real. Monsters are real. Creatures are real. Hanabee released this series a while back in two parts but now it it has gotten a re-release as a complete collection box set available in both Blu-Ray and DVD. A magnet for trouble is all an ex-vampire ever wanted. The mundane and the mysteriously extravagant are stitched together wonderfully. Unfortunately throughout the moments of good are moments of pure bad which usually come in the form of ruined jokes, incestual fanservice, aggressively two dimensional character personalities and light pedophilia.

For the most part, Koyomi Araragi is a pretty good main character. The series is just one massive hook. Most of what the characters say to each other is inconsequential. Jokes are taken way too far and go beyond funny into the realm is stupid. If you can even call it that. Something else that kept me glued to the screen is the way that Shaft — a Japanese animation studio — visually laid out the series. First and foremost; the animation was top quality.

Not only is the actual animation crisp and smooth but the colours are so vibrant, they practically pierce your retinas. It gives off odd and eerie vibes that add to the strange feelings that should be rushing through your body while watching. Never dubbed in English, this particular Hanabee release only featured Japanese voice acting which is perfectly fine because the cast did a great job at portraying their characters.

Unfortunately what they had to say was, at times, utter nonsense but I happen to love the language and so I enjoyed how it sounded over what the subtitles were telling me they were saying.

What took center stage for me was that of the soundtrack. It was made up of a bunch of contemporary tracks, each of which sounded somewhat abnormal BUT normal enough for me to be able to appreciate what I was listening to.

They came in at great times and worked well to fill in the spaces between dialogue. What I found just as impressive were the sound effects; things I never usually bring up in a review because so many other audio aspects eclipse it. They felt…satisfying, oddly enough. I see so much potential in it. I see what could be changed, rearranged and made so much better. I see what lies just beneath what the audience is told throughout the story and I want to reach in and pull it out for everyone to see.

It has this odd grip on me. I can see the bad things about it and there are many, but I can also see some redeeming qualities. Enter the world of the supernatural! Click Here. Click […]. Like this: Like Loading Check out some of our other stuff!

Is The Monogatari Series Worth Watching?

These posts will probably be done in release order starting with this one, Bakemonogatari. Bakemonogatari includes five arcs and is made up of 15 episodes. As with all the other parts of the series, Bakemonogatari is animated by Shaft, the same studio that made Madoka Magica. The first arc, Hitagi Crab, contains the first two episodes of Bakemonogatari. Each arc typically centers around a girl who has had a run-in with an apparition, and Koyomi is typically the one who helps them.

I thought someone had dumped a dead dog on a park bench, but it was just you, Araragi.

Many people hate it, just as many love it, but when it comes to the finer details of the series, few understand it. Despite claims to the contrary, Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Hanamonogatari, Second Seasonmonogatari, This-article-monogatri — all of it is explicitly sexual. I do not mean to say that past articles and think-pieces exploring the Monogatari topic are completely and utterly incorrect. Monogatari is a sexual series. If the characters are trivialized into being no more than tools in one off jokes, why take them seriously?

Imagine you're in a theatre filled with people, and you're watching this incredibly unique, intelligent, absourdly gorgeously presented film, but the theatre's projector is fucked, so, from time to time, this incredible artsy thingy is replaced on screen by a scummy, plotless, morally corrupt softcore porn, and for some reason, people don't seem to mind this at all, maybe they like it even more than the artsy movie. I guess that's my experience with Bakemonigatari. I'd seen Madoka Magica before, so I knew that Shinbo the director of that and most of the Monogatari series is insanely talented, but Bakemonigatari infinitely exceeded my expectations,….

This tested formula, however, hides Bakemonogatari's true brilliance. suspense, horror, life lessons, memes and romance.

Thematic Analysis of Monogatari Series [Part 1]

Back to latest. The result was a smash hit, which provided Shaft with the kind of budget and stature that fed future successes for the studio, most notably Puella Magi Madoka Magica. But the success of the series relies upon the female cast — various girls with problems seemingly of a supernatural bent, but that often also have a grounding in real-life teenage insecurities or deficiencies.

A harem series? The only thing is, our man Koyomi Araragi lands himself a serious girlfriend within the first few episodes. Supernatural, then? Hopefully, this guide will inspire you to give it a chance for that, too.

Bakemonogatari is not an entry-level anime.

Each film is just over an hour long, released separately in theatres in Japan over the course of , the final film being released at the beginning of this year. Serving as prequels to Bakemonogatari , these films are much more about sex and violence than the show--some really impressive violence, mind you, and some okay sexual titillation. Kizumonogatari finally shows us the events referred to so frequently in the first season of Bakemonogatari , which always felt like it was picking up on a story already in progress.
